Water School Studio Makkink&Bey

Ook Studio Makkink&Bey staat dit jaar op de Dutch Design Week. 🌿 Zij presenteren hun tentoonstelling Waterschool M4H+, die zij in samenwerking met het IABR hebben samengesteld. Met werken van meer dan 30 ontwerpers, architecten en kunstenaars, onderzoekt de tentoonstelling hoe een scala aan middelen kan bijdragen aan het bouwen van een duurzame en circulaire leeromgeving in het gebied. Zeker een bezoekje waard! 👀

IABR—DOWN TO EARTH: WATERSCHOOL M4H+ is an exhibition that takes place in the workspace of Studio Makkink & Bey. It shows what a new living and working environment in Rotterdam’s Merwe-Vierhavens (M4H) district could look like if the 6,300 future residents of the area think in terms of sustainable use of raw materials and resources, allowing for the just interaction between all organisms, communities, and their environment. In addition, five spatial installations set up in outdoor locations across M4H show how people can live and work here in the future. The outdoor plots represent five different materials and stories about new ways of resource usage and the impact this would have on M4H. Using a QR code, visitors can access a web application that introduces pioneers, currently active makers, and entrepreneurs as well as future residents in and of the district. 3D drawings illustrate what this future living and working environment can look like.

Commissioned by the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR) for its 9th edition DOWN TO EARTH and is conceived, curated, and produced by team Studio Makkink&Bey.

We are happy to announce that the exhibition IABR—DOWN TO EARTH: WATERSCHOOL M4H+ will open on Wednesday the 9th of June and will run until Friday the 30th of July in Rotterdam.

This exhibition is commissioned by the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam, IABR, for its 9th edition DOWN TO EARTH and is conceived, curated and produced by Studio Makkink & Bey.

Open Tue - Sun from 11am - 5pm
Location: Studio Makkink & Bey, Marconistraat 85, Rotterdam and 5 outdoor plots in the M4H district. Please make reservations for your time slot via https://tickets.iabr.nl
