The PatchingZone introduces the Wilhelminapier Experience: a global and transmedial journey for the Wilhelminapier in Rotterdam.

Streetwise Billboards is Mediawharf's first official project created by The Patching Zone, Zadkine Zuid and Kosmopolis Rotterdam. The project explores how urban encounters between people are increasingly achieved through media channels, and how this affects the visibility of these social interactions. Portable and online technologies such as 'smart phones', tablets and other handheld devices offer

new opportunities for young people to communicate with each other. It enables them to tell their own stories in their own way and to communicate with each other directly and immediately. But what are the possibilities for young people from cultural 'cold spots' (areas poorly served by cultural facilities) to tell their own stories via these types of media? How does this online behavior and physical life interact in such environments? In the Streetwise Billboards project we want to see how this works in practise for the youth in the Zuidplein of South Rotterdam. The outcome of this project is the production of an interactive city game for Rotterdam South.

Climathon Rotterdam 13 en 14 november: denk mee over ons water in Prins Alexander

Voor de Climathon Rotterdam nodigen we iedereen, die in Prins Alexander woont en werkt, uit om samen vernieuwende oplossingen te bedenken als het gaat om lokale watervraagstukken. Denk hierbij aan waterberging voor droge voeten of hoe speeltuin Het Lage Land bij kan dragen aan waterbewustzijn. Want de mooiste ideeën ontstaan door mensen samen te brengen en na te denken over de plannen voor de toekomst. Dat is precies wat er gaat gebeuren tijdens deze Climathon. En niet alleen in Rotterdam; de Climathon is een wereldwijde duurzaamheidschallenge. Bijna 150 steden gaan die dag oplossingen bedenken voor een betere toekomst.

De Climathon wordt online gehouden op vrijdag 13 november (15:00-16:30) met lezingen en interviews en op zaterdag 14 november (14:00-17:00) met werksessies.
