🗳️ Did you know? You may be able to vote in Rotterdam’s upcoming city council elections.

On 18 March 2026, municipalities across the Netherlands will hold local elections, including Rotterdam. And you don’t need Dutch nationality to take part.
✔️ EU citizens can vote if registered in Rotterdam.
✔️ Non-EU citizens can vote if they’ve lived legally in the Netherlands for 5 consecutive years and are registered.

Why does this matter? City council decisions shape the city you live and work in, from housing and mobility to sustainability and the international business climate. Voting gives you a say in how Rotterdam continues to develop as a welcoming, future-focused international city.

🐅 The tiger is back and that means cinema takes over Rotterdam

From 29 January to 8 February 2026, Rotterdam once again becomes the stage for one of the most international cultural events of the year, the 55th International Film Festival Rotterdam - IFFR.

Drawing film enthusiasts from around the world, the festival offers an opportunity to not only indulge in its rich programming but also to experience Rotterdam’s lively atmosphere, cultural highlights and renowned hospitality. One of the titles to be screened is "The Road to Fenix", alongside other films that explore the city, its communities and its ever-evolving identity.

With its bold, forward-looking programme, IFFR creates space for new voices and diverse perspectives, reflecting Rotterdam’s international character. The festival’s growing collaboration with partners across the city underlines its ambition to connect culture, community and global talent even more closely.
