Student Event Week - ESL

Dear all,

We are proud to let you know that despite the unfortunate circumstances of the Covid-19 and being unable to travel, the Student Event Week has successfully taken place in a hybrid mode this year. On 22nd, 23rd and 24th of February the LLM Commercial Law Students at the Erasmus University Rotterdam participated in a three-day-long event, networking, attending workshops and joining a walking tour in the city centre of Rotterdam.

We thank our sponsors Aon, Noord Nederlandsche P&I Club (NNPC) and Cox Ten Bruggencate Advocaten for supporting our event and helping us make it happen.

Dear colleagues,

We are delighted to announce to you that we have received a last-minute confirmation from the World Trade Organisation that one of their ambassadors will be speaking at our Student Event Week.

Paul Piquado is a Counsellor & Senior Lawyer in the Rules Division of WTO and has impressive experience in the legal field. He was nominated by President Obama to serve as the United States' chief trade remedy enforcement and compliance official, first as the Assistant Secretary for Import Administration, and then as the nation's first Assistant Secretary for Enforcement and Compliance. He was also appointed as an advisor for the Intergovernmental Policy Advisory Committee in the Executive Office of the President. In addition to these important positions, Paul Piquado has a successful career as a counsellor and lawyer in the USA.

Consequently, the schedule for Tuesday will be as follows:
11:00 -12:30 – Skuld (marine insurance provider)
13:00 -14:15 – Lloyds (law firm in London)
14:30 - 15:45 – WTO (Paul Piquado, Counsellor & Sr. Lawyer in the Rules Division)
16:00 - 17:00 – Workshop with Arendt & Medernach in Luxembourg

*Virtual Student Event Week*

Unfortunately, due to the latest Covid-19 developments it is impossible for us to travel this year. Instead, our committee is happy to announce that we are organising a hybrid event for you. For the first 2 days, we will have online events together with law firms, which will be a perfect opportunity for you to network. On the third day we are planning a social event in person, here in Rotterdam. Make sure you will join us on 22, 23 and 24 February!
