✨A deep understanding of fascia allows us to understand so much about ourselves!

In the latest podcast, I explore the origins of archetypal geometries, the Law of Three and the emergence of the concept of zero. These big ideas sit at the heart of sacred geometry and the symbolic designs that influence how we understand the body, consciousness and our place within a greater pattern...⦿

They shape how we sense ourselves, how we move and how we recognise the continuity that runs through our fascia and our lived experience... Sacred patterns, spiritual archetypes and the designs found throughout nature have always been part of the body’s story.🌿

💡 Do give it a listen on the podcast or a watch on YouTube and let me know what you think! And if you’d like to explore these ideas more deeply, you can download a free chapter of my book 'Yoga, Fascia, Anatomy and Movement' from my website (link in the usual place!).

✨Fascia-nating times ahead!✨

I’m so looking forward to joining this beautiful weekend of embodied learning, exploration and discovery — alongside the wonderful Helen Eadie, and organised by LushTums.

On Saturday 2–5pm, we’ll journey through the living architecture of the body — from classical to contemporary anatomy — and into the miraculous story of embryology, where form and function, body and being, first become one.

Fascia isn’t just tissue; it’s our inner ocean of connection — a fluid, intelligent network that shapes not only our movement, but our experience of being human. 🌊

Together, we’ll reimagine anatomy as art, science and story — and explore how we are shaped, moved and made by this extraordinary fabric of life.

Bring your curiosity, your questions, and your sense of wonder — we’ll unravel the threads and rediscover the magic that’s always been within us.

See you there 💫

🌬️ Tired of being told to "just breathe deeper"? In this week’s episode, I share a gentle breathwork practice that goes far beyond that. Drawing on fascia therapy, somatic healing, and embodied spirituality, we explore how mindful breathing can genuinely shift anxiety into inner harmony — and why fascia plays such a vital role in how we experience stress and safety…

🌿 I also share the story of a client who moved from tension and overwhelm into calm presence, just by using this simple practice. It’s a short sequence you can return to any time you need stress relief, self-care, or spiritual grounding - I hope it helps you find your own safe space within.

Thank you all for your lovely comments on this special episode we called The Hidden Language of Fascia: Translating Your Body's Story. This was an especially heartfelt discussion between us, as Joanne opened up about her breast cancer journey... We're so touched by your reflections and so grateful for this beautiful community 🌿

In it we explored how fascia SPEAKS, giving us vital insight into our history, our emotions and our current state. And Joanne openly shares her personal journey with breast cancer, and how understanding fascia, practicing micromovements and self-love, and receiving support from Paul and fascia community, all helped her to cope, heal and recover.
Whether you’re supporting clients on their own recovery journeys or deepening your own understanding of the body’s stories, this is a dialogue very close to our hearts...

Joanne Avison (E-RYT500, IASI, C-IAYT)

Welcome to the world of global Biomotional Intelligence; helping people smile inside! Joanne is devoted to making sense of anatomy and human motion in real people living in unique, animated, breathing bodies. “BioTensegrity is a powerful, emerging context for human movement. In short, understanding it helps people move better - whatever their age and stage of fitness. It is based on universal laws that apply equally on all scales; the microcosm, macrocosm and cosmos. Every one of us embodies this paradigm, through our biology and our biography. Welcome to the world of global Biomotional Intelligence!

Joanne’s own story of learning anatomy, (such that it makes sense of real live people coming into her clinic and studio), is a journey from unhappy struggling to learn the names of muscle attachments to delighted awe at the way nature makes sense of human architecture, once it’s multidimensional form is understood. Over years of seeking out protagonists in the field of anatomy, engineering, architecture, fashion (and knowing the craft of the chocolatier) Joanne teaches this foundational wisdom as an asset to every movement or manual practitioner. As chocolate is a liquid crystal medium (albeit non-biological) it has similar properties to soft matter; which is what the human body is essentially made of. Biomotional Intelligence is the domain of soft-matter physics, and many classical notions of biomechanics (which are based upon hard matter physics) simply don’t make sense of Human Biomotion.

Joanne has become an international teacher of applied structural anatomy for movement and manual practitioners in a variety of fields. She is a professional Structural Integration practitioner and certified teacher (KMI, Anatomy Trains 1998-2005 Tom Myers’ school) and Director of a Yoga Teacher Training programme in the Art of Contemporary Yoga and the Science of Body Architecture. As an advanced Yoga Practitioner and Certified Yoga Therapist, Joanne is very passionate about the art, craft and science of yoga so it’s benefits can be experienced safely and by everyone.
