GRADUATION SERIES 2026 part two | Lena Grøtting (Transformation Design)

In this year’s graduation series, we highlight the journeys of 15 BA students as they move through the early stages of their graduation projects and begin preparing for what’s next.

Read Lena’s graduation project update below and check out the interview about her first steps on our website, link in bio.

“Hi! I am Lena and my graduation documentary ‘How To Sue A Climate Criminal’ talks about using the law to advance climate justice.

Much of my time these past months went into accumulating knowledge on climate law and litigation (highly recommend the ‘Heat & Hope’ podcast by the Universiteit van Amsterdam). Starting my research, I felt pessimistic about the value of the law, seeing to how powerful world leaders follow international law at their own convenience.

The more I learned about climate law, the more I realized how rapidly the field is evolving and how climate cases are shaping local climate policies. Hearing about the people suing their governments for not taking enough climate action, companies for greenwashing or polluting, or landowners for cutting down the Amazon rainforest instilled hope in me. I like to believe that we are not completely doomed, that there are many lives to be saved, if we rapidly take action (e.g. phase out fossil fuels).

Reaching out to people working in the field was a key step that would bring my project forward a lot, but which I procrastinated on doing for months, out of fear of receiving only rejections. Finally, four lawyers agreed to share their knowledge and experiences with me in a filmed interview.

From there, it was just conducting the interviews, editing, animating, and contacting the singer and songwriter Nadine Rypkema, who has made a beautiful song for the film.

I am immensely grateful for the engaging conversations I got to have, thanks to this project, with deeply caring and hard-working people from across the planet working on issues of climate justice.

If you have questions about the film, graduation generally, or would like to collaborate, feel free to reach out to me ;)”

GRADUATION SERIES 2026 part two | Manan Gadhia (Fine Art)

In this year’s graduation series, we highlight the journeys of 15 BA students as they move through the early stages of their graduation projects and begin preparing for what’s next.

Read the graduation project update of Manan below and check out the interview about their first steps on our website, link in bio.

“Manan’s Graduation Project, The Bloempts, tackles ideas of Sustainability, Circularity, Perception, and Beauty through Flowers made from repurposed discarded materials. Taking things that are thrown out of a house and turning them into things that go back into the house as décor is not just funny, but also an approach to finding hopeful methods of Artmaking in the future by trying to be better towards the planet. A big part of this requires us to be Anti-Capitalist, but please buy them :)”

GRADUATION SERIES 2026 part two | Stijn van Schaik (Advertising & Beyond)

In this year’s graduation series, we highlight the journeys of 15 BA students as they move through the early stages of their graduation projects and begin preparing for what’s next.

Read the graduation project update of Stijn below and check out the interview about her first steps on our website, link in bio.

“UPDATE TIME! But first, here is the story of how the project Will the Robot Dog came to be. While I didn’t document much of the actual work, most of the story is told through experimentation—or walks—with my dog, and the interviews that came out of that.

So! After I spoke to .deroo for the first part of this graduation interview, two incredibly talented Rotterdam-based filmmakers, whose identities I will keep secret for now, reached out to me. They heard the story and saw a vision for a film adaptation. After meeting with the directors, we felt that we had a great connection and a shared sense of style. We are currently working on a series together, and I’m immensely grateful for this opportunity. Especially since I mentioned in the interview that I wanted to work with film as a medium next. More on that in the near future.

Since this interview is in English, I finally have a good source to send to more artistic newspapers and social media accounts. I need to reach a more international audience before continuing with this art project. I also want to edit the aftermovie as a “world premiere” for a potential upcoming interview.

Honestly, I’ve been working my ass off at a social media agency because I need to pay the bills. But after letting off some steam by partying a lot and seeing exhibitions from my talented friends from The Hague, I feel reenergized, inspired and ready for some serious next steps. Hopefully, I will be able to find a good studio where I can fully focus on art ASAP. Thank you, .”
