The phrase “Dark World” was first used in reference to a 1992 underground video series released by J.A.Bohr. While recording with the band Milwaukee’s Black Orchid, J.A.B. had the opportunity to work on the North American public access television series “Ennui Entertainment Presents…” (airing 1994-1996). used Dark World as a production company name and Dark World International history officially began. Ennui Entertainment as a potential record label folded in 1994, and the rights to the Black Orchid master tapes reverted to J.A.B. and Dark World. In 1995 Dark World restructured as an indie label, acquired the rights to the music of Infinisynth, and became a BMI music publisher. Realizing he needed help, J.A.B. turned to long time friend Kris (Kristi) Ameringer. Kris was brought in as President to help facilitate the restructuring of Dark World and soon became involved behind the boards as a producer as well. KarrArikh Tor has taken over managing Dark World International since 2010 (as well as continuing being Webmaster on www.darkworld.com). In 2014 KarrArikh Tor officially became the president as Dark World International is now registered as a company in the Netherlands.

Language Of Sound theory book news: A new vertaler (translator) has begun work translating the 2nd volume of the theory books from English into Dutch. We are trying to have the next volume released in Spring 2026.

I am presently running the second ad in Gitarist magazine (Dutch guitar magazine). I was thrilled to see that in next month's issue they have a positive review of my reference guide book (Naslaggids in Dutch).

We have a new front to our website. The older site with mazes is still located deep in the site, but Artists and music theory books have special pages in the new look also.

Dark World International is an indie record label in Rotterdam. We also teach music theory lessons in Rotterdam for guitar/bass using The Language of Sound.

Some new scores have been added for students to try. This is Feeling Good by Nina Simone, arranged for 2 guitars, a bass guitar and drums to accompany the voice. Videos for some of the songs are on YouTube, and the sheet music can be downloaded from MuseScore for free.

New photo shoot for the Volume 1 Exercise book. Thanks to Randle Martina for the great photos and Marielle Scheerhoorn for her hand (1st hand model used by Dark World International). Now the cover has to be assembled. It should be available within a month. 🤔✍️🎼

Colour version of the full textbook is now out! 270 pages, includes the added appendix, 'Chords in the Key of...'. It has heavier paper than the b&w version.
