Russian cursive is a very fascinating thing! Did you know that sometimes even Russians don't understand other people's cursive? 😂 Especially if it's something written by a doctor 🙈 At the first picture you can see examples of handwritten word that really hard to read. And at the other pictures you can find texts written by our students. Some students use cursive, but it’s also totally fine to use block letters.

Before knowing the Russian alphabet, many people think that the letter Я is just inverted R 😅

But actually this letter is very important for the Russians. It is not just the last letter of the Cyrillic alphabet (the alphabet people use in Russia), but it is also a word which means "I". The coolest part is that in Russian we don't use verb to be in the present tense (instead of "I am Olga" and "I am a teacher" we say "I Olga" and "I teacher").

So you should know how to say Я [ya] and it's already possible to make a few sentences:
- Я Томас [ya Maria] - I'm Tomas,
- Я инженер [ya inginiér] - I'm an engineer,
- Я студент/студенткa [ya studiént/studiéntka] - I am a student (male/female),
- Я программист [ya programmist] – I am a programmer,
- Я доктор [ya doctor] – I am a doctor,
- Я папа/мама [ya máma/papa] - I am the father/mother.
