✨️ More than a competition. What started as the Chinese Bridge Dutch Finals 2026 in Rotterdam quickly became something more.

A weekend of learning, performing, exploring and most importantly, connecting.

One participant shared: "I learned so much.. and made new friends".

And honestly, that's what stayed with us.

Yes, there were impressive performances. Yes, we celebrated two wonderful winners. But what we saw was something bigger: a community taking shape.

🌍 Because Chinese Bridge is not only about language, it's about bringing people together.

🎤 Secondary School students take the stage at the Dutch final of the Chinese Bridge Competition

This year’s Chinese bridge Dutch Final marks not only the 25th edition for college students, but also the 19th edition for secondary school students.

Both groups come together in Rotterdam for a full weekend, taking part in workshops and interactive activities where they use their Chinese outside the classroom and learn from each other, before the final on Sunday. 🌍

For many secondary school students, this is their first time speaking Chinese in front of an audience. At such a young age, it’s a unique opportunity to try something new and build confidence step by step.

🌸 International Chinese Language Day | 20 April 🌸“我叫张文君,我是张老师.” “My name is Zhang Wenjun. I am Teacher Zhang.”

With this simple introduction, our new Chinese language teacher Wenjun opened her first lesson with a group of students preparing for the NAHSS Summer Camp in Beijing.

Introducing yourself may seem simple. Yet in Chinese, even this first step carries deeper meaning.

When students learn Chinese names, they are not only learning sounds or characters. A name often reflects values, hopes, and direction. And the way we address one another — Zhang Laoshi — expresses respect, responsibility, and relationship.

That’s why learning Chinese is never just about language. It’s about perspective.

Happy International Chinese Language Day.
