🏥✨ Nursing home visit at Aafje Rehabilitation Centre!

During our visit to Aafje, we got an insightful tour from Kelly, a geriatric physiotherapist. She showed us around the rehabilitation centre and shared more about her work with elderly patients and the important role of physiotherapy in their recovery. đź’Ş

We also got to experience how VR glasses can be used during rehabilitation. 🥽 Through virtual reality, exercises can become more interactive and enjoyable, helping motivate people to stay active and keep moving.

A great opportunity to see how healthcare, physiotherapy and technology come together in practice! 🙌

Throwback Thursday🌞

Looking back on a year filled with learning, new experiences and great memories with the Health, Ageing and Society cohort of 2025–2026.

From starting the programme with Future Perspectives, including getting to know each other over ice cream, to exploring healthcare and ageing beyond the classroom during our study trip to Brussels and Ghent.

During the orientation visits, students also had the opportunity to get a closer look at different organisations and areas of practice, including a visit to Incluzio Leiden. These visits offered valuable insights into how health, care and wellbeing are organised in practice.

We also celebrated a very special milestone: 10 years of the Master Health, Ageing and Society during our anniversary lustrum party.

Throughout the year, our co-creation sessions brought students, older individuals and professionals together to exchange perspectives, learn from one another and develop new ideas.

A year full of connection, collaboration and memorable moments. Here’s to cohort 2025–2026!

One of the unique aspects of the Master’s Health, Ageing & Society is the Individual Learning Project (ILP). During the ILP, students design their own learning experience by exploring a topic they are passionate about and developing skills beyond the classroom. For her ILP Miranda volunteered at the recreation home department at Astoria retirement home in Vancouver. She developed social and communication skills and build personal connections with the residents. What surprised her the most? The variation in personalities and physical abilities among the residents. Curious about her experience, why she choose this, and her answer to the dilemma? Swipe through to discover her ILP journey! 👉
