🍂 Autumn Sensory Invitation to Explore 🍂

Today I saw this beautiful creation made on our sensory tuff spot. I set up an open-ended sensory tray inspired by the changing season. Autumn inspired loose parts like chestnuts, pinecones, corn, rice and autumn leaves invite children to scoop, pour, sort and imagine freely — all essential for fine motor development, language building and early mathematical thinking.

This kind of provocation supports:
✨ Sensory regulation – calming, grounding play
✨ Vocabulary development – describing textures, colours, sounds
✨ Early maths concepts – counting, sorting, capacity, patterning
✨ Imaginative play & storytelling – creating tiny worlds and narratives
✨ Connection to nature – observing seasonal change through touch and play
