On the first of February, Sander Stolk (one of our small grant awardees) organizes the first of a series of workshops:
"EASE: Exploring Anglo-Saxon Eloquence"
The aim of the EASE workshop series is to draw attention to the new digital platform Evoke, created at Leiden University, and to explore its value for various fields of research. This platform is meant to open up historical thesauri for research. The first thesaurus that Evoke supports is the Thesaurus of Old English, which allows scholars to take a closer look at Anglo-Saxon language and culture. This workshop series aims to explore the kinds of inquiries that researchers would want to make using these two resources and to ensure that such efforts can be accomplished with relative ease. For a first glance at the Evoke platform in combination with the Thesaurus of Old English, see http://evoke.ullet.net .

The KB, National Library, has recently opened a call for proposals for a paid researcher-in-residence (PhD-student in the final phase or obtained a PhD a maximum of 5 years ago) with an interest in their digital collection. These could be for instance historical newspapers, the web archive or anonymized user data.
They don’t ask for a specific theme and are open for everyone with an interesting proposal, but do ask that digital methods are used in the research.
