🌍♻️ ISL Students Taking Action for a More Sustainable Future ♻️🌍
At ISL, sustainability is more than just a topic—it inspires action. For the second year, we welcomed students and faculty from The University of Alabama as part of their sustainability and community-focused study abroad programme. Together, they led engaging workshops that encouraged students of all ages to learn about plastic pollution and environmental responsibility.

🌱 Younger students focused on caring for nature through interactive activities like Canal Creature Rescue and Planet Friends vs. Tricky Plastics, learning how everyday choices can protect wildlife and the environment.

🌊 Groups 3, 4, and 5 explored the impact of plastic pollution through hands-on activities such as the Trash Timeline Relay and Microplastics Simulation. They learned about sustainable alternatives and created campaigns to inspire action within the school community.

💡 Groups 6 and 7 developed leadership and innovation skills by using real-world data to measure the impact of reducing plastic waste and redesigning products with sustainable packaging solutions.

Together, ISL students are building awareness, taking responsibility, and leading change—helping create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future for everyone. 🌍💚

🏆 We are incredibly proud of our student Allegra De Angelis! 🏆

Allegra and her team, BS Leiden V12-1, were recently crowned Dutch National Champions after an exciting and hard-fought final against The Black Eagles!

In a thrilling game that remained close until the very last seconds, BS Leiden secured a 64-61 victory.

Achieving a national title requires dedication, resilience, and countless hours of hard work—qualities that Allegra demonstrates both in sports and at school. We are delighted to see one of our students reach such an outstanding milestone!

Congratulations, Allegra, on this fantastic achievement! We wish you and your teammates many more successes in the future. 🏀

This year, in collaboration with Veilig Verkeer Nederland and the Verkeersexamenbureau Nederland, our Group 7 students took part in the traffic exam for the very first time.

It was wonderful to see how much our students have grown in confidence and independence. At our school, we believe it is important that students feel confident navigating Dutch society, and learning safe road skills is an important part of that journey.

Beyond helping students integrate and participate confidently in everyday life, road safety knowledge also helps our students and their families feel safer when travelling around their communities.

We are especially proud to share that our students achieved a 100% pass rate! 🙌🙌🙌🙌

A fantastic achievement and a great start to our participation in this programme. Congratulations to all of our students on their hard work and success!

Today at ISL, we are proud to officially launch our new partnership with Van Leeuwen Catering! Together, we are providing our students with a variety of delicious and healthy meal options, including gluten-free, halal, vegetarian, and meat dishes.

We are excited to continue enhancing the experience for our students and families by offering meals that reflect the diversity of our international community. With over 30 nationalities at ISL, it is important to us that every family feels included and catered for.

Not only are the meals nutritious and varied, but they also make busy mornings that little bit easier for parents and students alike! 🥰

Just before the May break arrived, we turned up the energy and celebrated our King’s games in full Dutch style! From laughter and friendly competition to cheering each other on, it was a day packed with fun, connection, and happy moments!

This is a special tradition here in the Netherlands—bringing people together to celebrate, move, and enjoy the spirit of community. The concept behind the Koningsspelen is to promote fitness and healthy habits for children, encouraging them to stay active while learning the value of teamwork in a fun and supportive way.

A perfect reminder of how fun being active can be, and how important it is to build healthy habits from a young age.
