The "Young Wadden Academy" is established to encourage researchers to study the Wadden Sea Region, preferably in multidisciplinary and international teams. I
The Young Wadden Academy also strives to play an active role in bringing various stakeholders in the Wadden Sea area together, partly by bringing up potentially controversial topics, including our upcoming conference 'Ditch the Dikes'. This conference does not actually aim to actively remove our coastal defense systems any time soon, but does challenge people to rethink our relation with the Wadden Sea coast at first, and coastal environments throughout the world following from that.

Very good evaluation for the Waddenacademie, including some interesting positive comments on the role of the Young Wadden Academy.
Waddenacademie opnieuw beoordeeld als zeer goed De Rijksoverheid heeft de Waddenacademie in 2008 ingesteld om bij te dragen aan een duurzame kennishuishouding over het Waddengebied. Haar kerntaken zijn agenderen, programmeren, informeren en monitoren. Hiermee geeft de Waddenacademie een duurzame en kwalitatieve impuls aan de ecologie en economie....

Ditching d**es? No. New type of d**e? Yes!
Flinke subsidie voor Brede Groene Dijk Waterschap Hunze en Aa’s kan door met de Brede Groene Dijk aan de Groningse Waddenzeekust. Op 1 september ontving dagelijks bestuurder Hilbrand Sinnema de subsidie ter waarde van € 8,7 miljoen.

Nog even wachten en de nieuwe editie van Tijdschrift Noorderbreedte is uit!! Met de Young Wadden Academy van de Waddenacademie als gastredacteuren. Dit alles naar aanleiding van ons symposium. Ditching Dikes, afgelopen juni.
Soon the new edition of Noorderbreedte magazine will be available! The magazine is made in relation to our event Ditching Dikes, last June. Although the magazine is in Dutch, it contains summaries of the articles in English
