Groot Ship Design is a dynamic design- and engineering company with a hands-on mentality typical for the Dutch shipbuilding industry. The people working in the company have gained their experience in shipyards and design offices all over the world. The designs of Groot Ship Design are made in close cooperation with the client. We will pay special attention to your wishes like: optimum cargo intake, flexibility in cargo handling, operational speed, safety, low emissions, alternative fuels, production friendliness, etc. For many designs we can introduce to you state of the art economic solutions, like an LNG propulsion plant and our ‘Groot Cross-Bow’. We like to call it ‘Co-Creation in Ship Design’. Services

Groot Ship Design provides a wide variety of services. Before starting we will always agree with you what to do in order to eliminate surprises. Services can vary from an instant inclination test for an existing vessel up to a full design and engineering package for newbuilding. Groot Ship Design can provide in-house design and engineering solutions for hull construction and systems. We have all necessary skills and tools available for hull design, stability, construction, FEM, system diagrams, pipe routings, detailed construction mechanical engineering, etc.

Groot Ship Design is contracted by Neptune Marine Projects to further develop this design in a realistic vessel. We are working already for some time in close cooperation with the client and all specialists involved. Happy to report we are well on track and documentation for the first building blocks was supplied end of last year. We cant wait to see this vessel build and completed, empowering the wings and set sail.

Nice article (in Dutch) about the TSHD 'Anchorage' under construction (near delivery) in the Netherlands.
Groot Ship Design (www.grootshipdesign.nl) provided the complete structural design of hull and superstructure. After supplying the class approval drawings, building blocks including production information were prepared using CADMATIC software.

De nieuwe sleephopperzuiger Anchorage is bij de tewaterlating al een schip met een geschiedenis. Barkmeijer Shipyards, inmiddels onderdeel van Thecla Bodewes (TB) Shipyards, ontwikkelde deze innovatieve sleephopperzuiger in eerste instantie voor de Britse klant Hanson, maar het schip wordt dit jaar....

Good news from Japan. Asahi Tankers proceeds with the design that was initially prepared by Groot Ship Design (www.grootshipdesign.nl) and announced the building of the first two vessels.. The original concept was made to prove the possibilities for such vessel in Japanese market. Based on the requirements from Asahi the first concept was prepared including all naval architecture works, detailed GAP, concept for powering, first construction and artist impressions. 😊

Construction will start this year on fully electric tankers
