That feeling when your student aces his final English Exam! 🤩

Word of the day: Environment ('milieu' of 'omgeving' in Dutch). Not a single student knew this word in my class on Monday. It's a good one to learn - almost guaranteed to come up somewhere in final exams.

Word of the day: tussle - vechtpartij of vechten/worstelen in Dutch. If you get into a tussle with someone, it is not usually a serious fight (vechtpartij feels a bit too strong).

For those about to take their final English Exam next month, try to learn a new word every day.
What about the word 'dwindle' today?
It has appeared multiple times in the last 10 years of reading texts. Means 'afnemen' of 'achteruit gaan' in Dutch. If something dwindles it becomes smaller, weaker or less in number.
What strategy would you use to help you remember it?

Have you read it? I didn't expect to enjoy it but found myself hooked. Easy to read with strong, interesting characters and social commentary - lots to discuss with your teenagers (14+yrs). As usual the book is better than the film!
Hilversum library has English versions (once it re-opens).
