Post your room for free on our new website!

Hi there!

We are happy to announce that our new website is live! 😃🎉🎉

For a while now we’ve been working on a new platform and finally we can present it to you guys. We’ve noticed that even though these Facebook groups are a usefull way to find or post a room, we always thought that there is a way to improve this and make it easier for you guys.

We have created a platform especially focused on Groningen. Here you can easily find or post rooms, stay updated on the latest events and find information about our wonderfull city itself.

NOS published an article about how hard it is for internationals to find a place to live in the Netherlands but sadly we can only find it in Dutch. The gist of it is that internationals have a really hard time finding a place to live and some people are even forced to quit their study and move back home. It isn’t a problem that there aren’t enough rooms, but a lot of student houses start their ads with ‘No Internationals’ mostly because they are afraid that the internationals won’t stay for long and they have to find a new roommate in a few months. Another problem is that internationals have to pay a really high price for the rooms and sometimes need multiple side jobs to pay for these rooms.

This of course shouldn’t be the case so to help you guys out ESN opened a special hotline for all your questions and complaints in your search for a room: https://dutchstudentunion.nl/housinghotline/

Please leave your feedback there so we can improve the situation and help future international students that want to study here. This shouldn’t be a problem you guys have to face.

Our own new website is specifically focused on rooms for international students here in Groningen so let’s help each other out and find a suitable place for everybody! 😃👌
