【🍃 2026 GCI Chinese Language Teachers Training】

From Language to Experience: New Expressions of Chinese Language and Culture for Global Students

How can Chinese language and culture move from something students simply understand to something they can truly experience and use?

On 26 September 2026, the Groningen Confucius Institute invites Chinese language teachers and educators to join us in Amsterdam or Online for a full day of inspiration, exchange, and practical teaching ideas.

This year’s programme brings together different perspectives on international Chinese education:
🔹 Prof. Hu Wenhua – Chinese characters & character culture
🔹 Prof. Philip Vanhaelemeersch – Chinese narratives & European reception
🔹 Ms. Zhang Lei – Mandarin pronunciation teaching
🔹 GCI Teachers: Wang Cuina, Zhang Qi, & Liu Ning – Less Explanation, More Immersion?

📅 26 September 2026 | 09:00–17:30
📍 NIO House Amsterdam & Online

From language to experience, let’s explore new ways to make Chinese learning more engaging, meaningful, and connected to real cultural experiences.

👘 【Echoes of China: GCI Hanfu Course Review】

During our latest Echo of China workshop, a GCI teacher, dressed in Tang Dynasty men's Hanfu, introduced the evolution and distinctive features of Hanfu across different Chinese dynasties.

Using Hanfu origami models to illustrate the different styles of traditional Chinese clothing, the teacher offered a clear and engaging visual introduction to Hanfu. The participant also had the opportunity to try on elegant Ming Dynasty Hanfu, experiencing firsthand the beauty and elegance of a tradition with thousands of years of history.

🎨【Echoes of China: Review Chinese Gongbi Art Session】

What a wonderful session of creativity at GCI Groningen! ✨
Our session began with an introduction to the history of Gongbi painting and its five key techniques, including fine brushwork, outlining, layered coloring, and shading. 🖌️📖

Participants then explored their own creativity by mixing colors and bringing traditional subjects to life. 🎨 The male students painted elegant bamboo 🎋, while the female students created beautiful magnolia blossoms 🌸. With guidance and encouragement from three teachers, everyone enjoyed learning this delicate Chinese painting style in a relaxed and inspiring atmosphere.

👏 Thank you to everyone who joined us! We loved seeing your creativity and enthusiasm, and we look forward to welcoming you to our future Chinese art workshops.
