Great article by U-Today about the master project of our student Leon Smook at the University of Twente.
Artificial nose: Smelling using polymer brushes Leon Smook, MSc student at the Faculty of Science and Technology, made an important step in the development of an artificial nose. By computer-simulating the binding of scent molecules to different polymers, he contributed to a polymer-based receptor design that could efficiently capture scent molec...

Great work by our master student Leon Smook!

We are extremely proud of Leon Smook for publishing his second peer-reviewed paper on his master research! For more info see https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acsapm.1c00321

We are very proud to announce the publication of this great article on how to build a low cost humidistat by our PhD student Lars Veldscholte and master student Rens Horst! You can find more information here: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1140/epje/s10189-021-00062-5
We got our NWO Perspectief proposal granted! Congratulations Sissi de Beer and Frederik Wurm! There is a special starring role for Lieke van Ginkel and Leon Smook in the movie.

Congratulations to our master student Leon Smook on the publication of his first article!
Leon, we are super proud of you and your work!! It is very rare that a master student writes and publishes an article during his master project already! Also, thanks to Guido Ritsema van Eck for his great support!

We developed Liquid-releasing artificial skins in a collaboration with the TU/e!
Localized Liquid Secretion from a Photopatterned Liquid-Crystal Polymer Skin Liquid-releasing artificial skins are made from films made of a smectic liquid-crystal polymer network (LCN) photopolymerized in the presence of a photoactive azobenzene chromophore and a liquid-crystal porogen. The nonreactive porogen phase separates during the polymerization process, and the polym...

The work within our collaboration with the University of Pau got published!
Network Mesh Nanostructures in Cross‐Linked Poly(Dimethylsiloxane) Visualized by AFM Mesh nanostructures are visualized in poly(dimethylsiloxane) by high resolution peak force tapping atomic force microscopy. Upon uniaxial stress the mesh shape becomes elongated unveiling nanoscale d...

Yippee! This week two MTP / SPC publications came out on the behavior of brushes that are exposed to vapors! One on theory and simulations and another one the application of brushes to boost the sensitivity of eNose sensors. Congratulations to all the people involved! Here you can find the eNose paper: https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs.langmuir.0c02510 and here the theoretical paper: https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs.macromol.0c01637
