And here some photos from yesterday!
Today we had an amazing day in Seaworld, San Diego. The beautiful weather, awesome dolphins and other fishes made this day incredible. Afther this major day, we went to the hotel to quickly change for our unofficial last night out. In gaslamp quarter we danced the night away until we fell asleep..

Today was the last day for us in Los Angeles. This city is known for the Hollywood movies, therefore we visited Universal Studios. We have seen a lot of current productions studios and also old movie sets. Do you remember the movies? (See pictures).
After being stuck for 2 hours in one of the many traffic jams around LA, we went south tot San Diego. After arrival some of us took a dive in the large pool in our hotel. The perfect preparation for the Seaworld visit of tomorrow.

On our last day in LA we also had our last study related visit of the trip. We stand up early to make sure to be on time at the University of Southern California. After surviving again some traffic jam (Obama was in LA actually), we arrived at the university. Our host welcomed us with warm coffee.
The program consisted of two presentations of professors of the USC, one about engineering projects in the US Healthcare and one about globalization and related issues that engineers have to deal with. A friendly student guided us all over the campus and just like at the other universities we saw it is a very green place to study.
In the afternoon we went to the beach in Santa Monica. This was the first time we were able to put on our swimming clothes and make a splash in the sea water (just like the dolphines we hope to see splashing Saturday in Seaworld).

What is well known in Los Angeles (LA)? Probably Beverly Hills, the Hollywood sign and Walk of fame come to mind. That is where we started this Wednesday morning. In four teams city games were done in the Walk of fame area. Many creative pictures are taken and even this page has some American likers now.
After exploring LA we faced the traffic jam and finally reached Disneyland Resort California. Welcomed with Haagse hopjes and Wilhelmina peppermint we were introduced to projects Industrial Engineers typically do at Walt Disney Company. All of a sudden we walked into the crowded park. The themes were extensively implemented; from attractions to trash cans. By night the areas became even more fairylike.
As special visitors we got the opportunity to look back stage. For example maintenance areas and smart appliance of mirrors were shown.
The overall aim of Disneyland was achieved: with smiling faces and lasting memories we left Disneyland Resort California.
A company visit to J.B. Hunt was on the program of today. J.B. Hunt is a huge trucking and transportation company. In the morning we went to APM terminals. APM terminals is the largest port complex in the US. J.B. Hunt's containers arrive and departure from this port. We had a tour around the terminal by bus. The number of containers and cranes was immense.
Then we went to the J.B. Hunt company itself for a good lunch and a nice presentation about the company. J.B. Hunt was established in 1961 as a really small company with only 5 trucks. By innovating and working more efficiently, they became market leader in the transportation industry of the US. Nowadays, J.B. Hunt has 17,000 employees of which 12,000 are drivers and it has a fleet of 64,000 containers.
In the afternoon we visited BNSF Railway where we saw how containers were loaded on trains.
After the swimming pool has been tested, we are now going to have some dinner in LA!
