🌞🚑 Introducing the world's first solar-powered ambulance

How can we make quality healthcare accessible in places where electricity, fuel and infrastructure are limited? Solar Team Eindhoven has an answer: Stella Juva.

Today, the TU/e student team unveiled the world's first ambulance powered entirely by solar energy. Designed to bring healthcare directly to remote communities, Stella Juva uses integrated solar panels to power both the vehicle and its onboard medical equipment. On a sunny day, it is expected to travel up to 715 kilometres, making it independent of charging infrastructure.

Developed in close collaboration with Amref Health Africa, Stella Juva is designed to support healthcare professionals in delivering essential medical services in remote communities. In August, the team will travel to Kenya to test the vehicle in real-world conditions.

Stella Juva is about more than sustainable mobility. It shows how technology can help tackle societal challenges and improve access to healthcare. By bringing together engineering expertise and healthcare partners, Solar Team Eindhoven hopes to inspire others to create social impact through innovation. As the team puts it: if 23 students can achieve this in a single year, imagine what's possible when the technology sector and social organisations join forces.

Congratulations to Tech United on their 9th RoboCup world title in the Midsize League (MSL)! 🏆

The TU/e team has dominated this league for years.

At the same time, the team deliberately chose the harder path in the Humanoid League. Instead of relying on existing software, they are transferring the ideas and strategy behind their MSL success to the humanoid robots. It made for a difficult tournament this year, but one that provided invaluable lessons.

Tech United will return to the RoboCup next year in Nuremberg with an even stronger focus on that humanoid challenge.

🏗️ Beethoven Update: Shaping our future campus!

In the latest episode of Stay TU/ened, Jan-Willem Schellekens, Deputy Director Real Estate Campus and Facilities, shares exciting plans for what's coming next as part of the Beethoven project.

One major highlight: a brand-new cleanroom on campus; a real asset for our researchers and students, and a boost for all the groundbreaking research still to come.

On top of that, we're adding 4.000 m² of new laboratories, teaching spaces, and office buildings, all connected to our existing buildings via skywalks.

Exciting new plans! By 2028-2029, TU/e will have a campus we can be even prouder of. 🎓

🌱 "Sustainability is a mindset, not a buzzword."

Meet Lorenzo Ceccarelli, winner of last year's Sustainability in Education Award. In his Circular Electronics course, Lorenzo challenges students from various disciplines to rethink how we design and manufacture electronics, making circularity part of the process from day one rather than an afterthought.

It's a great example of how sustainable thinking is being woven into our education, preparing the next generation of engineers to design for a better future.
