A little throwback to last week’s Student Take-Over: Meaningful Traveling.

TU/e student, and avid traveler, Kez van Aken took over the SG stage and sat down with world traveler and tv-presenter (3OpReis) Nienke de la Rive Box for an open, curious conversation about exploring the world with intention.

Needles threading, machines humming, and outfits getting a second life — here’s a little peek into our fully booked Clothing Repair & Customization Café, which we organized with Stitch, the fiber art community for students in Eindhoven.

From patching beloved jeans to adding fresh embroidery, participants dove into hands-on creativity and discovered how a few simple stitches can transform anything hanging in their closet.

𝟰𝗼 𝗷𝗮𝗮𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝘁 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗸 𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗠𝘂𝗶𝘀𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗹 | 𝟭𝟯 𝗡𝗼𝘃. 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱

During '40 jaar cabaret met Erik van Muiswinkel', the Coronazaal filled with laughter, nostalgia, and of course, plenty to think about. With video fragments from performances of Dutch comediens, Erik took the audience on a fast-paced tour through four decades of Dutch satire.

What made the afternoon extra special: Erik is a longtime friend of Lucas Asselberg, Head of SG, who's farewell we were celebrating this week. Their friendship goes all the way back to their youth. That personal connection brought an added layer of warmth, humor, and history to the room.

A night full of stories, music, and memories.
During 'De Avond van Asselbergs', the Blauwe Zaal filled with familiar faces, family, friends, and a whole lot of appreciation for Lucas Asselbergs, who, after 34 years at TU/e (including 16 years as head of Studium Generale), was saying farewell to the university.

Together with journalist Frénk van der Linden, Lucas looked back on his career: the personal turning points, the challenges, the unexpected detours, and the many sources of inspiration he found along the way. The evening blended reflection with culture, humor, and music; exactly the mix that has defined Lucas’ years at SG.

𝗩𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗺𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗺 | 𝟭𝟭 𝗻𝗼𝘃. 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱

During the sold-out lunchtime concert, musician Vincent van Amsterdam showed (and proved!) just how surprisingly versatile the classical accordion can be. In the Corona Hall, rich layers of sound filled the space, from soft, almost breathing melodies to powerful musical bursts.

Some reactions from the audience:

“I had never seen an accordion played before. The additional information on the pieces was also good.”

“It was a unique and entertaining concert with fun and interesting explanations of the pieces he was going to play.”

As part of the Farewell Week of Lucas Asselbergs, this performance felt like a musical gift in the middle of the day. A moment to open your ears to something you don’t encounter every day.

Afscheid Lucas Asselbergs: “Ik ben een Studium Generalist” Lucas Asselbergs nam woensdagavond afscheid van de TU/e en van Studium Generale, het bureau waarvan hij zestien jaar hoofd was. In de Blauwe Zaal voelde interviewer Frénk van der Linden hem – tussen de muzikale verrassingen door – aan de tand over zijn labradoodle-mentaliteit, het verlies van G...
