Meet the Team: Rias
=============
I’m Rias van den Doel, and I’ve been part of the NCE team since 2020, working as a University Adviser. My role involves offering advice on key themes in English studies, both within the Netherlands and further afield. As a scholar of World Englishes, I’ve long believed our conferences should draw attention to the diverse varieties of English spoken around the world. I like to believe that we have been quite successful at addressing these and other topics that directly affect both teachers and students in their use of English. We’re hoping to continue this trend with our new conference theme, which we look forward to exploring with you on 20 March 2026.

Meet the Team: Jelly

Hi, I’m Jelly van Rinssum and after attending several NCE conferences I joined the committee in 2021. I currently work as the conference’s treasurer and I oversee the procedures regarding our journalism award: The Herman Wekker Prize.
After working in secondary education for a number of years I started working as a teacher-trainer of English at HAN University of Applied Sciences in 2016. I love teaching culture and literature courses, especially Young Adult Literature. For our NCE I am always on the lookout for opportunities to bring some literary workshops and speakers to the conference. NCE is a great opportunity to meet inspiring people and come back with new ideas for teaching. I hope to see you in March ’26!

NCE2026: Meet the Team – Hanneke Andringa

Hi!
After joining the organization committee in 2014 and having been secretary for a few years, I am now proud to take up the torch as chair from Christien van Gool, my very first English teacher at primary school. I’m passionate about incorporating self-exploration and creative expression in my own English lessons in secondary education and I always look forward to the next NCE in which we bring together colleagues, innovators, and other inspiring thinkers to improve English language teaching. It’s deeply rewarding to see everyone come away enriched and excited at the end of the day. Will you be there too on the 20th of March 2026?
