De voordelen van een tweetalige opvoeding en het op jonge leeftijd beheersen van meerdere talen zijn — naarmate onze taal verengelst — in de aandacht. Kinderen die vanaf hun geboorte twee talen leren, kunnen deze ontwikkelen tot op het moedertaalniveau. Bovendien zijn ze zich al vroeg bewust van de verschillende talen en leren ze op jongere leeftijd informatie te negeren die er niet toe doet.

Het begrijpen en spreken van meerdere talen kent talloze voordelen. Maar de suggestie dat geen tweetalige opvoeding een gemiste kans is, is een misvatting.
