From €10 salon glow-ups and custom tailor fits to endless street food, laughing until our stomachs hurt, and taking a quick travel trip with the besties. Honestly, the best part is just trolling around my own hometown acting like a tourist because I forgot how everything works. 😂
But nothing beats coming home to a massive family gathering and lighting incense to pray to my ancestors—reminding me exactly where I come from. ❤️ (Even if I immediately got drafted to help out at the family shop right after! 💼)

Day 3: Cava, Olive Oil & the Mountains of Catalonia 🍇🫒

Started at Montserrat, 1,236m above sea level — where geology, religion and tourism collide. Then lunch among 250-year-old olive trees at a family mill producing oil since 1770. Closed the day underground, at one of Europe’s largest cava producers.

Agriculture, heritage and tourism — all in one mountain region.

🏠 How to land a private studio like this: Studios in the city center are highly competitive. Besides the HAS housing mediation services, keep an eye on Dutch housing sites like Pararius or Funda, and sign up for local housing corporations early. Finding a private spot takes patience, but the independence (and the kitchen space!) is totally worth it.

In Episode 4, we’re stepping inside Ana Maria’s shared apartment that she splits with her classmate! Living with friends means you always have someone to debrief with after a long day of lectures, share cooking duties, and split the bills.

💡 Looking for a shared room or private house in the Netherlands? Since housing is quite scarce, many students find private rooms through platforms like Kamernet, Room.nl, or local verified Facebook housing groups. The golden rule? Start your search at least 3 to 4 months before your studies start, and never pay a deposit before seeing the room or getting a signed contract! 🕒⚠️
