After a long break, I'm back, and today I'd like to introduce you to vatanai.

Vatanai is a Czech family-owned brand founded in 1999. It was the first manufacturer of woven wraps in the Czech Republic and is one of the oldest in Europe. They started with hand-woven wraps and later switched to machine-woven wraps. In 2020, the brand launched its first non-growing baby carriers, and later added growing carriers to its portfolio.

I have all their 5 models - 3 non-growing (minimalistic) and 2 growing. As carriers model name hints, carriers are following one after another in both categories.

Let's start with the smallest size—S (small)—for babies around 3 to 4 months old or weighing about 5 kg. You'll need to try it on first, because every baby has a slightly different size at any given time.

Later, when size S becomes too small, you can switch to size M (medium), which will last until your child is about 2 years old—again, this depends on your child's height.

Model L (large) is designed for toddlers who want to be carried or who crave your closeness. Our child fit into Model L when he was 20 months old because he is tall for his age. The maximum weight capacity of Model L is 25 kg.

All non-growing models come with shoulder straps in 3 different lengths. You can choose based on your preferences, size, and comfort; the straps can be fastened straight or crossed. With these carriers, it’s important to pay extra attention to ensuring the child is properly positioned.

The Andala Upgrade is a smaller version from the line of growing baby carriers, featuring straight shoulder straps that can be varied in length, just like on non-growing baby carriers. The Andala Upgrade is suitable from 3–4 months, similar to the minimalist S model, up to approximately 2 years of age, depending on the child’s growth.

Andala Toddler as the name hints it is for toddlers and jit is following model after Andala Upgrade. It can be compared to Large minimalistic model but with sewn-in straight shoulder straps - no possibility to cross them. Mostly you can get Andala Toddler with short shoulder straps, but you can ask for long ones, too.

Today I have here another Slovak carriers making brand - Noma baby. They make 5 different sizes. In my collection there are three of them.

Noma 0 - smallest size for newborns. Also, for the smaller ones as it make tze carrier fits from size 50. You can adjust carrier for baby by straps. They comes only in full bucle versions and shoulder straps can be straight or crossed. That applies for every model. I have the one with straight shoulder straps.

Noma 2 - is created as next carrier after model 0. I have this one with crossed shoulder straps.

Noma 3 - for big babies - toddlers. It fits aprox. till 2 years - size 92. In my collection tuere is one with straight shoulder straps.

Slovak brand I already presented. Today I’m showing you which you can try with me. Let’s start from the right side.
Moyo Uni - was created for newborns. As it is growing model, it last till about size 92, which is quite long. I have it as halfbucle, but they come also with straight and crossed variants. Part in between knees is adjustable by strap.

Moyo first size - this carrier is suitable for babies from size 62 till size 92. Shoulder straps can be straight or crossed. This size and model I have with straight ones caller “Classa”. Adjusting between knees is different from Moyo Uni. On this carrier you are using velcro system.

Moyo Uni Up - is suitable for babies about size 68 till 104. They made it in two variants - with straight and crossed shoulder straps. I have the one with crossed shoulder straps. It is also adjustable by strap in between knees.

Moyo Maxi size - is bigger version of First size. You can use it from baby’s size 74 till 110. Adjusting is same as on First size and so are shoulder straps.

You created life, 9 months constantly with you. They know only you and their dad if he is there. You are your baby’s security, safe place, they can calm down or cry with you. Cry is their only communication way to tell you that something is wrong and they need your help, your hug, your voice, new diaper or maybe just to fart.
When baby is older, people around you may say “he’s a BIG BOY now” or “she’s a BIG GIRL already”. On the outside maybe yes, but their brain is still developing really fast till 3 years with many changes and challenges, and then it continues up to early adulthood. Babies don’t know how to regulate their nervous system, they are learning it from you and with you. Raging baby needs your calmness, your presence, security and love – and babywearing gives them exactly that.

When you are calming your baby in a carrier or a wrap, putting them to sleep there, or just cuddling, you are creating a bond between you two. It is not spoiling, it’s security. They can trust you that you love them and so they don’t need to hold all emotions unprocessed. There is nothing bad in crying or raging. It’s a form of communication and an emotional release – which is great even for adults. Emotional pressure is damaging, all of us need to release it in a right way.

Babies in first years can’t be spoiled, as their brain doesn’t work that way.

Vatanai is a Czech family-owned company that has been producing woven baby wraps since 1999.
Over the years, Vatanai has become known for its unique woven wraps and ergonomic baby carriers. This year, they also introduced their first clothing collection, as many parents continue to love the brand even after their children have outgrown babywearing.
Vatanai uses a selection of signature patterns, each available in a variety of beautiful colourways. Every season, they release several new limited-edition collections, making each design truly special and highly sought after.
Most fabrics are available as both woven wraps and ergonomic carriers.
Woven wraps Vatanai produce are available in many sizes and as ring slings.
Brand also offers two types of ergonomic carriers: One Size and Growing (Andala).
One size carriers are in 3 different sizes S, M, and L, with XL available on request. Shoulder straps have different lengths—short, medium, and long—and can be worn either crossed or straight, allowing you to choose the most comfortable option for your body and preferred carrying style.
Growing carriers are Andala Uprade and Andala Toddler. Both Andala carriers come with short shoulder straps as standard, while long straps are available on request. Unlike the One Size carriers, the shoulder straps are permanently attached to the carrier, so they cannot be worn crossed.

Do you know why is not always the best idea to choose the first carrier you see?
Sometimes we see our neighbour, sister, friend carrying her baby forward-facing in a carrier. We see the baby bouncing when someone come close to her or him and see it as “yaay, nice, baby is happy”. Sad truth is that no, baby is not happy most of the time. It is a triggered reaction of his/her body that tells us “someone is approaching me and I want to hide”. That is the bouncing.
Baby facing the parent can see the world around but also can hide or sleep comfortably when they feel so.

Noma baby is another Slovak brand devoted to create functional, ergonomic and aesthetic baby carriers.
They have 5 sizes of carriers, from tiny newborn size (size 50) up to preschoolers (size 110/116). All of them created to fully support each stage, size and weight of the baby appropriately and comfortably for carrying person whether it is mom, dad, grandparents or another person.
Noma comes with soft to semi-hard waist bands, gradually changing with size of carrier and two types of shoulder straps - straight and crossed version.
They are adjustable by laces both between knees and the back support.
On pictures I have size 0 for tiny newborn, size 2 for bigger baby about 3-4 months old and size 3 for toddlers.
There will be another post about sizing and how to choose corect carrier size for a baby.

Moyo is a Slovak brand making babycarriers and clothes both for baby and parents.
They have various carrier types with semi-hard to hard waist belts and three types of shoulder straps - straight (second pic), crossed (sixth pic) and tai (tying, forth pic).
Also, the adjustments are bit different.
First carriers has velcro adjustment between knees of the baby and laces on the back support.
Other carriers have laces on both back support and between knees.
