Hey all, Tim here! On 20-22 February I teach at a NEW Gypsy Jazz camp at my buddy Jay Ungar's beautiful Ashokan Center! With my colleagues Jimmy Grant (guitar) and Adrien Chevalier (violin). Group lessons, ensemble coaching, one on one lessons, a tutors' concert AND sauna a frozen river and bears!!

How long have you been part of the camp?
This is my first time at camp and I’m really excited to meet the students and experience the atmosphere.

What’s your favorite tune to jam out on?
Of this year’s Jam Tunes, my favorite tune is “If I Had You.” I like the tempo, and the melody is so beautifully simple and catchy. It’s fun to improvise over the chords. My second favorite version of this tune, after Django’s version, is Nat King Cole’s. Because the lyrics are also very beautiful.

Best thing about Grappelli Django Camp?
I’ll let myself be surprised.

What item in your suitcase gets you through four days of non stop playing?
The honest answer is probably my iRealBook App on my phone :-) Because as a bassist, you can’t always choose the keys, and when things have to happen quickly, I glance at the chords so I can accompany well, no matter what key we’re in.

The location used to be a monastery and often hosts music groups due to its fine acoustics. It can cater to around 250 guests.
