25 YEARS OF TOILE-DE-LUXE!

‘The world-famous Arnhem fashion design course, renowned for its focus on creativity and craftsmanship, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the "Toile-de-Luxe" this year.’

The design assignment, which has been a common thread throughout the program's sustainable curriculum since the academic year of 2000-2001, serves as a prestudy for the graduation collections. The emphasis is on the creative process and artisanal research, revealing manual workmanship that often remains invisible in the final result.

Over the years, the "Toile-de-Luxe" has grown into an iconic concept both in the Netherlands and abroad, repeatedly serving as inspiration for many and a unifying force among all "Arnhemmers" (alumni of the department) worldwide.

Now on show in the pavilion: the 25th generation of Toile-de-Luxe in photo series, work by our upcoming graduate students 2025–2026. Entrance is free.

Sanne Schepers appointed Head of BA Fashion Design at ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design Arnhem.

On the first official days of school, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Sanne Schepers as the new Head of BA Fashion Design at ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design Arnhem, marking the opening of a new exciting chapter in the department’s ongoing creative legacy.

Sanne joins ArtEZ from the start of this 2025-2026 academic year onwards and will remain co-creative director of her own independent design practice Schepers Bosman.

‘With her broad knowledge of the fashion design practice, strong industry network, and boundless enthusiasm and energy, Sanne is a wonderful addition to the team. We wish her lots of joy, success and inspiration as she continues to build on everything that has been achieved so far, ensuring that ArtEZ Fashion Design remains a cradle of talent and creativity in the years to come.’

ArtEZ Fashion Design BA graduate 2025 DORKA SZABÓ is the Winner of the HEIJ KONIJN FOUNDATION PRIZE 2025. Dorka won a cash prize of €2500,-.

In 1985 ANKA KRESSE took photo’s backstage at the graduation show. In these days the graduation shows were always in the Rietveld Canteen, and backstage were the theory classrooms and photo studio on the ground floor, and the studio of the department on the first floor.
