ArtEZ Bachelor of Dance

Hoe kan de architectuur en collectie van een museum een dansvoorstelling inspireren? Tweedejaarsstudenten van de ArtEZ Dance Artist opleiding zijn die vraag ingedoken terwijl ze duetten creëren in en rondom Museum Arnhem.

Deze bijzondere samenwerking tussen ArtEZ en Museum Arnhem daagt de studenten uit om inspiratie te halen uit en te reageren op de sfeer, kunstwerken en architectuur van het museum. Na weken van verkennen en creëren zijn deze getalenteerde studenten klaar om hun werk te presenteren – zes duetten en één trio.

It is almost time for Dance Artist Presents 2025!

During these performances by the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year students of the Bachelor of Dance, we will present new choreographies by Caroline Finn, Dalton Jansen, Jefta Tanata, Maciej Kuźmiński, and Rakesh Sukesh together with Alessia Luna Wyss.

Together with works by Julio Iglesias Ungo and students, it promises to be a program that is both dynamic and poetic!

We warmly welcome you on March 21 and 22 at the theater of the Academy of Theater & Dance.

Imagine a room with dim light, a low mist covering the ground. From the dark, a body appears, drawing closer: it has no past, no future. It starts to do the Jitterbug. But before you can grasp it, it melts away…

In ONDIER / THE BUG, a collaboration performance of ArtEZ School of Acting and Dance Artist, a parade of lonely characters passes by on an endless quest for self-expression. Actor and dancer enter an interdisciplinary waiting room, somewhere between language and movement, crafting a dark spring of suppressed souls swaying slowly between glamour and disgust, rage and silence, sparkles and blood. An endless, sad party, where you linger, even though the atmosphere has long since changed to that of a David Lynch film.

✨ Meet the Artists ✨

Sofia Norman (1999): A Swedish dancer with a love for interdisciplinary work and the absurd, both in physicality and text. Interned with MoON production/Hendrik Aerts and performing Paradise Circus Now at De Parade 2024.
Sytze Bouma (1996): A Dutch actor passionate about physicality and vulnerability. Studied Meisner and Williamson technique at Terry Knickerbocker Studio in NYC.

This extract from the Joy Enjoy Joy focuses on the last part of the original work created by Ann Van den Broek in 2022. This performance is adapted for seventeen performers. It’s a steady, driving and pulsating stream, moving constantly, never stopping. A stream that shimmers like reflecting light. A glamorous dream, restless and full of energy.
