Getting a stone exactly centered is hard.
I like to draw my center lines AND a little box to the dimensions of the stone.
The extra lines make it easier to see if you're getting everything centered and symmetrical.
Simple flower? No thanks! I like a challenge 😄

You wax carve your pieces a section at a time. Get methodical about it and work your piece in quarters!

When you check the evenness of your curve, you're looking at 2 different things.
Is the peak of the curve in the middle?
Do the 2 sides leading up to the peak look the same?
You check this aaall the way around the ring and file more where needed.

Just because it comes out of a package and is cut by a machine doesn't mean all edges are perfectly flat and straight!
Always measure yourself with calipers or a set square if you want to be sure.
