How can optical fibers help advance minimally invasive endoscopy?

Researchers in Poland developed a hair-thin imaging fiber with more than 13,000 optical cores packed into just 400 µm, enabling broadband imaging for next-generation minimally invasive endoscopy.

To validate its performance across the 400–1100 nm VIS-NIR range, the researchers used an Avantes AvaSpec-ULS2048 spectrometer, now succeeded by the AvaSpec-VARIUS™ platform.

From the lab bench to the bedside, Avantes spectroscopy continues to support innovations in medical diagnostics.

Today, millions of people across Europe will look to the skies to witness a solar eclipse. For scientists, however, a solar eclipse is far more than a spectacular event. It offers a rare opportunity to observe and study our Sun from a unique perspective.

During the 2017 total solar eclipse, the Avantes team joined researchers on Casper Mountain, Wyoming, collecting solar irradiance measurements throughout the eclipse while supporting experiments investigating the Sun's corona and chromosphere.

From exploring the human body to studying our Sun, spectroscopy continues to support scientific discovery across a remarkable range of applications.
