The BassoonLAB Amsterdam October encounter has been a blast!

It was an honor to have participants like Nerea and Hugo, who are professional players in great orchestras and still wish to improve and challenge themselves to become even better musicians. Thank you both for your trust and confidence in me, it has been an absolute privilege to share ideas with you about music and reed making.

As the Romans used to say, ad maiora semper!

Besides lots of learning in lessons and workshops, we had the pleasure of having two special opportunities at the BassoonLAB Summer Masterclass 2025:

- visiting the general rehearsal of Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra on a wonderful program with Klaus Mäkelä and Janine Jansen

and

- hosting a bassoon exhibition from Bernd Moosmann, who showed us his beautiful instruments and bocals.

A big thank you to Margrit and Bernd from Bernd Moosmann GmbH for their kind support and for believing in the BassoonLAB project!

At the BassoonLAB Summer Masterclass 2025, we had the opportunity to participate to the workshop "From relaxation to performance" held by my dear friend and colleague Simon Van Holen.

Sharing his personal journey and expertise, Simon invited all of us to approach our playing in a more natural way, with tips and exercises aimed at finding our inner balance - from posture, to breathing, and all the way up to the reed.

Concerts are always special, especially if we're having fun together!
