What does yellow sound like? 🌻

The Conservatory of Amsterdam recently collaborated with the Van Gogh Museum to answer that question. Students from our composition, pop, electronic music, and live electronics programs joined forces to create original works inspired by the exhibition Yellow, more than Van Gogh’s favourite colour.

From the warmth of a summer sun to the exuberance of a sunflower, these pieces translate Van Gogh’s most iconic palette into a vibrant auditory experience. Whether you are visiting the museum in person or listening from home, you can hear how our students captured the courage and innovation of Vincent’s work.

AEMA Project Week at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam brings together artists and professionals for a week of talks, workshops and excursions focused on creative practice, industry knowledge and community.

Programme contributors include Young Marco for a Q&A session, Bea1991 leading a creative workshop, and Fresku for a Q&A and songwriting and lyrics workshop. Rob Zwart of Meanwhile Booking Agency will discuss working with an agent. Nathan Kofi will address community building, Min Taka will explore the position of international artists in the Dutch music scene, and Orlando Ceder will lead a session on Surinam rhythms.

Project Week offers students the opportunity to deepen their artistic development while engaging with current professional and cultural contexts.
