Spatial Harmony is the fabric of the Laban/Bartenieff Movement System. We are always working with balance and understanding the complex nature of dynamic relationship. In this endeavour we're not seeking perfection, we're seeking to better understand the relational - Laban emphasised that movement arises through dynamic tensions and changing relationships rather than static equilibrium.

Sending you a reminder to register for our upcoming master workshop with Katharina Conradi and Joanna Brotman - 'Moving Ourselves; Transgenerational impact and the Shape of Change' from 18th - 20th August in Amsterdam
This is the 2nd master workshop of our series, a participant from our first one, Embodied Knowing with Colleen Wahl said,
'I wanted to join EMOVE's masterclass to reconnect with colleagues who work within the LBMS framework as I do. And it worked out beautifully: I was able to reconnect with familiar faces and meet wonderful LBMS practitioners I didn't know yet from across Europe. On top of that, the masterclass was a true added value in many ways. It refreshed key concept of the system, I could re‑experienced certain concepts in my own body, and I was offered a brand-new model to explore embodied knowing in movement experiences. Inspiring!"

Our students are always working at the intersection of experiencing through movement and observation.

Observing ourselves and others is at the heart of refining our skills as movement analysts. But can you notice every single detail of human movement in one moment? Of course not.

Instead, we learn to capture the essence of what we see. What stands out? What feels most significant? What is the movement communicating?

Our role isn't to document every detail or state objective facts. It's to reflect back what is most prominent in the moment. That reflection becomes the beginning of a dialogue—an invitation to explore, rather than a conclusion to be accepted.

In somatic movement education, observation is less about being "right" and more about being present, curious, and responsive

Space has meaning...studying the movement scales help us to reveal our movement patterns and preferences, to visit places we may not normally go, here our students explored the qualitative aspects of the Axis and Girdle scales they had been discovering...it was amazing work 🙌🥳👏

These workshops are organized for former students of EMOVE, Laban Bartenieff Movement Analysts, and other C(L)MA’s from around the world. Most of the workshops are also accessible for people who have had a significant number of hours (min. 150) of LBMS training as part of their Dance Movement Therapy program or any other Somatic Movement program.

They are taught by Master teachers in the field of LBMS: faculty teachers from different LBMS programs, as well as other experienced LBMS teachers.
