Gretchen Garnett has been in love with movement since she took her first dance class at four years old. Since then she has been moving, experimenting, creating and teaching movement in many different forms. She began taking yoga classes as a teenager and fell in love with the practice when she found Laughing Lotus Yoga Center in San Francisco, where she completed her Vinya

After a little pause I'm back with a new 30-minute practice. A practice of self-care so that we can care for others and allow that care for others. A practice of remembering that we are all one. In today's practice we turn our senses inward and practice moving from restlessness to peace of mind.

In the first Yoga Sutra, Patanjali tell us, "Now begins the practice of yoga." It may seem obvious, but can we think of this as a call, as an invitation? It's an opportunity to open ourselves up to NOW. To know that each moment is a chance to reinvest, to reinvestigate, to begin again... to begin the practice of yoga, NOW.

This past year we all have had to give things up, whether those were travel plans, seeing friends and family, a change at work, or your favourite yoga studio. But just because we give things up, it doesn't mean that those things don't still stick in our heart, tying our heart up with knots of sadness and regret. In this practice we work on loosening some of these knots, making space in our bodies, our minds and our hearts.

What we do, what we say, what we think... it all comes back to us. Whether good or bad, we influence those around us and we influence ourselves. In today's practice we start with the intention or taking responsibility for our actions. This can start on the mat. As we move, breathe, produce thoughts, how can we shape these thoughts into positivity toward ourselves and those in our lives?
