ESN Amsterdam This is the official page of ESN Amsterdam. ESN Amsterdam is part of the Erasmus Student Network. This enables us to provide low-priced activities.

Erasmus Student Network Amsterdam is a student-run organisation dedicated to helping and entertaining exchange students in Amsterdam. ESN is an organization, with 500 sections in 40 countries, which exists to make sure that you are going to have the time of your life while studying abroad. ESN Amsterdam is a student-run organization dedicated to helping international students studying at the Unive

rsiteit van Amsterdam and Hogeschool van Amsterdam make the most of their stay in the Netherlands. Funding for the organization is provided by the Universiteit van Amsterdam and the Hogeschool van Amsterdam together. Members of the University of Amsterdam and the Hogeschool van Amsterdam also provide the organization with supervision and support. ESN Amsterdam aims to foster student mobility through optimizing the social and cultural integration of international students in Amsterdam. We try to achieve this by organizing introduction days, parties, ‘borrels’, weekend trips, excursions and other cultural activities. We also promote contact with Dutch students through our coach system. Lastly, we keep the students informed with the magazine Insiders and a weekly Newsletter. Every semester about 1000 international students join ESN Amsterdam. Not just for the reasons mentioned above, but also because it’s the best way to meet fellow international students from both the Hogeschool van Amsterdam and the Universiteit van Amsterdam. Joining a committee is a great opportunity to make new friends, explore Amsterdam, gain some work experience, and become an integral part of our association !! 🤩

As a committee member, you will participate in regular meetings to arrange events, come up with ideas for social media or find new partners for the organisation, depending on what you like to do and which committee you join. To add to that, as a bonus, you will get to enjoy many social events exclusively for committee members, free entry to parties and events you organise, and discounts on the ESNcard ;)

Sign-ups are now open for the Fall 2026 Semester !

We match international and exchange students with Local Buddies to support them as they settle into life in Amsterdam. Whether you’re Dutch or an international yourself who doesn’t speak Dutch, everyone who loves helping others is welcome ! The most important thing is being open to new cultures and ready to make someone feel at home. As a Local Buddy, you’ll make new friends, learn from each other, and create unforgettable memories ! Together, you’ll explore fun spots in Amsterdam, attend exciting events, and have an amazing time! 🎉

🌟 As a Local Buddy, you will also get a big discount on the ESN Card (with perks like Ryanair and FlixBus deals), and you can stay for free with friends around the world, because who needs hotels when you’ve got new buddies everywhere 😉

We are looking for volunteers to help make the UvA Introduction Days on 19, 20 and 21 August a great start for new students in Amsterdam. You will help welcome incoming students, support activities, answer questions, and bring the ESN energy throughout the day. ☀️

You can choose which day(s) you would like to join, so sign up for the dates that work best for you.

What is in it for you?
