SPARK SPARK develops higher education and entrepreneurship to empower young, ambitious people to lead their fragile, conflict affected societies into prosperity.

SPARK provides higher education scholarships for refugees in the MENA region, and supports entrepreneurship development in fragile or post-conflict countries around the world. We believe that the key to alleviating poverty and maintaining stability is sustainable economic growth. Therefore, by educating young people and creating jobs, people can improve their socioeconomic position, the local econ

omy benefits and the potential for conflict or radicalisation is reduced. We pay special attention to marginalised groups, including young people, women and refugees, and we work closely with local partners to equip these populations with the knowledge, tools and motivation to lead their conflict affected societies into prosperity.

This International Youth Day, we're highlighting a simple truth: wherever they live, young people share the same hopes for dignity, decent work and a sustainable future. What differs is the opportunity to reach them.

At SPARK, we work alongside young people in some of the world's most fragile and conflict-affected places to turn those aspirations into opportunity.

At the heart of our impact are the people, ambitious entrepreneurs building businesses and creating opportunities with SPARK.

Behind every business we support is a founder with a vision, a challenge to address, a community to serve, and the determination to build rather than leave.

On World MSME Day, we let them speak. Swipe through stories from Libya, Jordan, Lebanon, and beyond, all supported through SPARK's SME coaching and business development programmes.

Today, SPARK marks World MSME Day by celebrating the micro, small, and medium enterprises that drive economies and create opportunities where they are needed most.

In the fragile and conflict-affected regions where we work, MSMEs are more than businesses; they are engines of employment, resilience, recovery, and long-term stability.

Built by entrepreneurs, these enterprises strengthen communities from within, creating livelihoods, fostering innovation, and shaping a more prosperous future.

“When I left Syria, I initially thought I would only be away for a couple of months.” — Abdüllatif Babelly

More than a decade later, AbdĂĽllatif has transformed challenges into opportunities, building Prifa Coffee and winning a startup competition with his innovative coffee tablet concept.

His journey is a powerful reminder that displaced people are not defined by the circumstances that forced them to leave home, but by the ideas, determination, and value they bring wherever they are.

Behind every refugee status is a person with unique talents, aspirations, experiences, and contributions.

On World Refugee Day, we reaffirm the importance of seeing people beyond labels and creating pathways for displaced individuals to access education, employment, entrepreneurship, and the opportunity to thrive.

Because a legal status should never define a person's future.
