We are proud that our new film 'Mental Slavery & Johnny Cakes' is part of the exhibition 'Afterlives of Slavery'. The film portrays Lynette in St.Eustatius, who tells about her Caribbean island and its relation with the so-called motherland of the Netherlands. Inspired by her story, Wijnand Stomp created the beautiful new tale 'Anansi and the Johnny Cakes'.

Marron representatives from Surinam came to our Anansiboom to get inspriration about how the immaterial culture of the Aukan can best be passed on to new generations. It was a memorable meeting, with the short documentary about Lucia Hamelink-Menig and the beautiful story Anansi and the Black Heroes by Wijnand Anansi Stomp.

YES! It happened!
The Anansi storytelling tradition is officially recognized as immaterial cultural heritage of the Netherlands!
We are very proud that we made this happen.

We nominated the Anansi storytelling tradition to be taken up in the National Inventory of Immaterial Heritage of The Netherlands. Originally brought to the country by people of Surinamese, Caribbean and African descent, this storytelling figure has stolen the hearts of all Dutch by 2016. The date to nominate the trickster Anansi for this inventory could not be better chosen: April 1st. But the nomination is no joke. We hope that we can bring the news soon that the nomination is accepted.

We congratulate the Vaillant Theatre in The Hague with their initiative to promote Nanzi stories in the Schilderswijk area. We are definitely in for a fruitful cooperation!

On Saturday September 5 we celebrate the kick-off of The Anansi Tree in the Dutch Open Air Museum. We start a series of workshops for voluntary storytellers who will give the Afro-Caribbean storytelling tradition a place in this museum in Arnhem. The Dutch Open Air Museum is a popular museum that shows the history of The Netherlands. Therefore the Anansi stories must be present as a symbol of the Afro-Caribbean-Dutch relations. We are very proud of this achievement.

in het Nederlands Openluchtmuseum in Arnhem. Zaterdag 5 september bent u met uw introducés de hele dag welkom in het Nederlands Openluchtmuseum.

Om 13.00 uur speelt Wijnand Stomp voor u Tante Jewels Slavernij Show, een mix van theater, comedy en filmdocumentaire door dé theatrale Anansi-comedian van Nederland.

In het Nederlands Openluchtmuseum wordt het verhaal van Nederland en alle Nederlanders verteld. Vanaf april 2016 krijgt de Anansiboom –en daarmee de Afro-Caraïbische vertelcultuur– een plek in dit museum. Zaterdag 5 september is de feestelijke start van een wervingscampagne en trainingstraject voor vrijwillige vertellers uit de Afro-Caraïbische cultuur die vanaf april 2016 op woensdagmiddag en op zaterdag en zondag verhalen vertellen onder de Anansiboom in het Openluchtmuseum.

Meesterverteller Wijnand Stomp en filmmaker Jean Hellwig reisden samen langs de geschiedenis van de slavernij. Op hun weg vonden ze oude en nieuwe verhalen van Kweku Ananse, Ba Anansi, Kompa Nanzi en Anansi. Nu krijgen deze vertellingen over de spin een eigen plek onder de Anansiboom in één van de best bezochte musea van Nederland.

In speeddates with schools we present Anansi as a cheerful relic of the slave trade. The Power of Stories combines Anansi storytelling with documentary portaits from Ghana, the Caribbean and Zealand.

Een vrolijke blik op een zwarte bladzijde van het Nederlandse erfgoed, daar staan we voor. Woensdag 27 mei doen we speed dates op Beleef! waar scholen in en rond Almere ideeën op kunnen doen voor cultuuronderwijs.

Beste mensen,
Graag nodigen wij u uit voor de GRATIS extra presentatie van De Kracht van het Verhaal. Omdat jullie de voorstelling van Wijnand wegens griep op onze presentatiedag op 5 februari niet hebben kunnen zien, willen we jullie graag in de gelegenheid stellen deze voorstellingen nogmaals volledig te kunnen zien.
Een bijzondere en wetenswaardige voorstellingen, passend binnen Cultureel Erfgoed en leerlijn Geschiedenis, over periodes uit onze Nederlandse geschiedenis waar wij eigenlijk veel te weinig van af weten, en misschien ook wel niet meer zo graag aan herinnerd willen worden ?

We hopen dat jullie op deze korte termijn nog tijd kunnen maken om vrijdag 20 maart te komen kijken !
