๐ I wish you a strong, relaxed and playful 2026! โจ
I believe you can only truly learn when you are relaxed.
When you feel safe (๐๏ธ) and comfortable.
When youโre having fun and when you feel space.
I often start something with 200% enthusiasm.
And then? I stop making time for it, get frustrated when it doesnโt work out, or get tangled up in โthe order of the day.โ
โจ A few things I started with enthusiasm:
1. Sewing. I have all the tools, but still canโt manage to get the thread through the needleโlet alone set up the machine;
2. Knitting. Jelmer helped me with the first stitches. I bought yarn and knitting needles with my mother. I have no idea where they are now;
3. Exercising regularly. Sometimes I run through the park a few times a week and take dance and yoga classes. So why not structurally? No idea. Do I have something โmore funโ to do? Or do I find work more important?
โจ A few things that do seem to work (by the way, I borrowed these nice lists from other connections here ๐):
1. Hand sewing. You have no idea how many buttons Iโve successfully sewn on! Practical, useful, and satisfying work (until they fall off again);
2. Moving and furnishing offices. I love that temporary, "antikraak" dynamic. Preferably for a few months or longer, of course;
3. Thrifting and swapping. I used to have no idea what to do in a second-hand store, on Vinted or Marktplaats. Now I genuinely enjoy it.
๐ So whatโs my plan for 2026?
1. Iโm going to work with a personal trainer, in exchange for Dutch lessons. Win-win, if you ask me!
2. Iโm going to (once again ๐) declutter my closets and attic and give things away, donate them, or sell them.
3. On a voluntary basis, Iโll continue organizing low-key, social events hopefully with V. . Ohโand please do reach out if youโd like to collaborate!
