Big data can be used in so many contexts. Jacqueline van Stekelenburg is in the middle of her research where she collected big data to give an answer to the question:
‘Are neighborhoods high on trust resilient to societal polarization?’ Her main finding is that the relation between perceived polarization and conflicts is moderated by trust in authorities. To be more precise, in neighborhoods where the perceived polarization was high, it only led to conflicts in case the local residents distrusted politicians, each other and the police.
