THE NEW BOARD OF ETCETERA IS LOOKING FOR NEW CHAIRS!!
GET ON THAT!
The school year is almost over! That means just a few exams and then summer, and a fresh start next term!
What that also means, is that next year’s Board of Etcetera is looking for new Chairs of our Committees!!
In case you need a refresher on the committees and what being chair would mean, read on!
Promotion Committee (ProCo):
The ProCo is Etcetera’s promotion hub. If you like being creative, this could be a great position for you! The members go to events, take photos, write ‘throwback’ pieces on events, run the Instagram, and of course (in the second part of the year) make the yearbook! As Chair, you run the general members, meaning you decide who does what, run the meetings, and are in charge of the yearbook happenings.
Literary and Language Activities Committee Etcetera (LLACE):
The LLACE is an event-planning committee, focused on, you guessed it, literature and language! The LLACE in the past has created events like poetry nights and book clubs, and, at the end of the year, always plans a big multi-study association literary conference! As Chair you run the meetings, make sure everything gets done on time, and organize your members.
Activities Committee Etcetera (ACE):
The ACE is similar to LLACE, as it also plans events, but less literature based and more, to use the Dutch word, ‘gezellig’! They plan events such as pub quizzes, open mic nights, barbecues, and more! The Chair of ACE has the same role as the Chair of LLACE, they keep track of members, run meetings, and all in all make sure everything goes smoothly!
Do any of these positions sound exciting? Are you a natural leader, a very organized person, and love working in teams?
Send us an email at [email protected] along with your CV and a letter of motivation BEFORE JUNE 8th!
We will then have interviews to choose next year’s Chairs!!!

Hey everyone,
From next school year on the Lace will be know as the LLACE. And they are looking for a new chair! The Language & Literary Activities Committee is in charge of events related to language, literature, and the study itself.
As chair you will be responsible for the meetings (1 meeting every week), communication, and the end product. The work load is about 15 to 20 hours every month, excluding events. In the beginning of the year you will also need to be present at the interviews for the general members of the committees. So together with the Commissary of Internal Affairs, Hymke, you will play an instrumental part in choosing your fellow members.
The chair should possess some leadership skills. Also, as chair you should not be afraid to communicate with teachers, and you shouldn’t easily be taken by stress. Considering that the events will run throughout the whole year you need to be able to plan ahead, as to avoid stressful situations during exam weeks. Of course, you are completely free to organise whatever event you feel would be fun and/or educative, as long as they adhere to the overall theme of the LLACE. We would like the LLACE to at least organise one event every two months, and one per month where possible.
If you feel like you are the right person for the LLACE, please send your CV and a small motivation to [email protected]. The deadline is 9th of July at midnight.

Please note that the location has changed since our last update as the event will not be held at Café De Bieb!! (Don't worry, it is close to De Bieb)

Happy world book day everyone!
Today is the 2nd of March which means that it’s officially world book day and we can celebrate authors, books and reading! While hundreds of children today are dressing up as their favourite book character, you can also take some time to enjoy your favourite novel or go over you’re book collection. Don’t have any books left you want to read? Don’t worry! Next week LACE is having a book swap at which you can stop buy at Etcetera’s office and exchange one of your books for a book out of our bookshelf! So if you have old books laying around and you would like to share them with others, then don’t hesitate to come to Etcetera’s office in PCH 0.17 next Monday between 12.30 and 15.00.
Hope to see you there and enjoy today!
Love,
LACE

Hello fellow booklovers!
Stuck on what to read next? Here's some inspiration! Our secretary of the LACE, Lillian, has written a review on Harper Lee's ''To Kill A Mockingbird''.
You can find the review on our LACE-tips Goodreads page under ''Why we're reading this'':
https://www.goodreads.com/group/show_book/201340-lace-tips?group_book_id=1834456
According to Lillian, this book deserves to be reread, especially now, in times when we tend to let feelings of prejudice and hate divide us. ''Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a Mockingbird.''
P.S. Have you recently read anything good and do you want to share your reading experience with others? The LACE is looking forward to reading your review! Don't be shy and contact us on our Facebook-page or via [email protected].
