"Returning to my country finally gave me peace. In The Netherlands, I was depressed because of my undocumented state. Bridge to Better, Worldtools, IOM, and the LVV program of Amsterdam, I was able to make the step to go home.

I realized that I am a father, I started to realize what it means if my daughter in Uganda grows up without her father being there for her. I cannot buy attention to my daughter with money or gifts she needs me to be present and be there for her.

At first, I thought it would be better to leave Uganda and find a brighter future elsewhere, but if you don’t have document's it can make you depressed.

I didn’t realize how many opportunities I have in Uganda, there are a lot of people succeeding in Uganda, and there are a lot of options here.

In The Netherlands, I couldn’t legally work. Any person who is undocumented and stranded in Europe: 'please come home to Uganda'."

Bridge to Better geeft deelnemers de tools in handen om uiteindelijk zelf in hun levensonderhoud te voorzien. Als deelnemers kiezen om terug te gaan naar hun land van herkomst, helpen wij ook bij de opstart ter plaatse.

Ieder persoon heeft een uniek verhaal en andere behoeftes. Daarom vergt elk verhaal een andere aanpak. Al onze deelnemers ontvangen dan ook persoonlijke coaching.

Wij werken vanuit een positieve benadering: hoop ligt ten grondslag aan Bridge to Better. Wij willen een brug zijn naar een betere toekomst.

In onze begeleiding staat empowerment centraal: Bridge to Better gelooft in het geven van hoop, door aansluiting bij de kracht van onze deelnemers, bewustwording van mogelijkheden en het leren nemen van eigen verantwoordelijkheid.

Bridge to Better gaat uit van wederzijds vertrouwen: wij zijn eerlijk tegen de deelnemers; zij zijn eerlijk tegen ons. gelijkwaardigheid is de basis.

Niet voor iedereen is Nederland de beste optie is voor het opbouwen van een waardig en legaal bestaan. Samen met de deelnemer onderzoeken we waar dat wél kan!
