Oep Schilling is the founder of Fiction Factory, the renowned production workshop that creates interiors, exhibitions and one-of-a-kind projects for architects, designers and brands. He is also the driving force behind the iconic Wikkelhouse: a modular house made from cardboard, wood and flax. In collaboration with Dutch design brand Weltevree, he also developed the Wikkeltent: an adventurous hybrid between a house and a tent. For Oep, change begins with material. Broadly speaking, there are resources that can grow back and resources we extract from the earth. The latter are finite, while our demand for products, interiors and buildings continues to grow. What does that mean for the choices designers and makers make today? No traditional presentation or large screen. Instead, during .amsterdam Oep invites you into a direct, screen-free session guided by a handout. His central message: we need to become more conscious of what we use and fundamentally rethink how we design and build.

Studio Osdorperban is niet het verhaal over hun wijk. Zij ontwerpen het zelf.

Wat ontstaat er wanneer je niet voor jongeren ontwerpt, maar met hen? Janine Toussaint is ontwerper en Co-Artistic Director van Moving Arts Project, waar ze sociaal-artistieke projecten ontwikkelt die mensen en buurten met elkaar verbinden. Vanuit die praktijk werkt ze met Studio Osdorperban: een groep jongeren uit Amsterdam Nieuw-West die ontwerpt vanuit de eigen wijk en leefwereld. Samen transformeerden ze doodgewone schoolstoelen tot een eigenzinnige collectie die past bij hoe jongeren werkelijk willen zitten. Tijdens GLUE neemt Janine je mee in de kracht van co-design en laat zien hoe ontwerpen kan bijdragen aan eigenaarschap, talentontwikkeling en verbinding. Tijdens GLUE zijn de stoelen bij Artemis te zien en te ervaren.

ARTEMIS GRADUATE🎓
Voor haar afstudeerproject The Mental Receipt onderzocht Char prestatiedruk onder jongvolwassen creatieve freelancers. In haar enquête keek ze naar waar die druk vandaan komt, van social media en vergelijking tot deadlines, bereikbaarheid en perfectionisme.

Die inzichten vertaalde ze naar een interactieve campagne met een speciaal ontworpen booth. In deze afgesloten ruimte vult de bezoeker een korte vragenlijst in over werkdruk, zichtbaarheid, rust en grenzen. Daarna wordt, bijna zoals bij een photobooth, een persoonlijke kassabon geprint met wat het voortdurend ‘aan’ staan hen kost: slaap, focus, rust, energie of zelfvertrouwen. De booth creëert bewust even afstand van de buitenwereld en geeft ruimte voor reflectie.

Voor haar eindexamen werkte Charlotte dit concept uit tot een fysiek prototype, waarmee de hele ervaring daadwerkelijk beleefbaar werd.

Precies daarin zie je de Artemis-aanpak terug: onderzoek gebruiken om tot een sterk concept te komen en dat vervolgens vertalen naar een visuele én ruimtelijke ervaring.

We ontwerpen alles maar sneller, slimmer en efficiënter. Maar wanneer heeft design je voor het laatst echt iets laten voelen? Tanja Soeter beweegt zich op het snijvlak van strategie, design, cultuur en innovatie. Voor merken als HEMA, IKEA, Auping, de Bijenkorf en het Van Gogh Museum vertaalt ze veranderende menselijke behoeften naar relevante producten, ervaringen en retailconcepten. Daarnaast werkt ze als productdesigner vanuit een sterke fascinatie voor de helende werking van vorm, materiaal en beleving. In deze intieme sessie tijdens GLUE over Healing Aesthetics gaat Tanja de interactie aan met het publiek hoe design bijdraagt aan rust, verbinding en welzijn. Wat maakt een ontwerp niet alleen mooi, maar ook betekenis vol en werklijk goed voor mensen.  We hoeven design namelijk niet alleen beter te laten werken, maar de mens ook beter laten voelen.

Interior architect and designer Sheryl Leysner is the founder of Ruwe Bolster, a studio that transforms discarded objects and materials into distinctive lighting and furniture pieces full of character. Rather than concealing imperfections, she embraces them, giving materials a new story and a second life. Sheryl demonstrates how interiors, material research, storytelling and emotion come together in designs that not only transform a space, but also influence how people experience it. During GLUE amsterdam connected by design, Artemis Academie hosts three days of Creative Industry Voices. One of the speakers is Rubiah Balsem, cultural leader, social architect, curator, strategic advisor and founder of Studio Balsem.

In her talk, she explores the role art, culture and creative leadership can play in shaping the society of tomorrow. How can we create cultural ecosystems in which different perspectives genuinely have space and agency? And what happens when we stop seeing culture as an infrastructure made up of institutions, organisations and individual makers, and start understanding it as a living ecosystem instead? Rubiah takes us into the systems and structures that shape cultural ecosystems, as well as their less visible architectures: stories, relationships and emotions. Together, they influence who belongs, whose perspectives are valued and what futures we are able to imagine.
