๐๐ป This week weโre celebrating EU Code Week and getting ready for Week!
At Dexterity Club, we believe that beyond technical skills like coding, itโs equally important to develop the competencies and values that help us use technology responsibly, ethically, and healthily.
Thatโs why this year, our focus goes beyond code, weโre exploring what it means to raise digital citizens who can thrive in a tech-driven world.
โจ Join us in our upcoming talk with Ellevate:
Raising Digital Citizens: Helping Kids and Youth Thrive in a Tech-Driven World
Weโll be sharing insights from our most recent project with Brilliant Stars International School : Values at the Heart of Digital Citizenship, and exchanging ideas on how families and educators can guide children and young people to build a positive digital culture together.

Last week was packed with meaningful activities as we hosted Brilliant Stars International School in the Netherlands, advancing our joint project Power-Up: Values at the Heart of Digital Citizenship.
Highlights from our week:
โ
Piloting our Thinking Cards... Students explored how using digital tools they can create positive change, critically analysed stories of hope using tech for good (like MINE MARK Foundation, Squirrel Ai Learning, Helena Gualinga , and Kenmore Junior Youth Group), and shared even their own improvement ideas. We were impressed by the insights and ideas of young students we worked with.
โ
Visiting Utrecht University to explore collaboration on digital literacy, digital citizenship, and AI in education. Thanks for the insightful conversation.
โ
Hosting a lively workshop in Amsterdam with parents, educators, tech experts, and two very lovely girls to unpack our framework and resources as well as to brainstorm ideas and improvements to our approach. Thanks for all the very valuable feedback!
โจ Our key takeaways:
* Educators and families are eager for tools rooted in real-world contexts and values to foster the responsible, ethical and safe use of digital technologies and collective action.
* Students engage deeply with reflection and analysing digital technologies when they are given the space to do so.
* We canโt work in silos -Cross-sector collaboration can help us build meaningful digital citizenship education.
Thank you to everyone who welcomed us and shared your insights. We are inspired and more committed than ever to co-create inclusive, values-based and forward-looking digital citizenship education.

๐ This morning we came across a BBC Global Story episode from a few months ago โ but the topic is very current.
๐ง โWill Australia's social media ban for under-16s work?โ looks at Australiaโs plan to block young people from using social media. France has already taken similar steps, and other countries are debating it too.
It brings up some important questions: โ Will banning social media protect young people โ or just make things more hidden? โ What happens when governments try to regulate before weโve really had the right conversations?
At Dexterity, we believe that rules and regulations have their place โ but we also need to help teenagers, families, and educators develop the skills and mindset to face the digital world with confidence.
Thatโs what weโre doing in the Power UP project โ creating ways for schools and families to talk about real-life social media dilemmas like: ๐ฌ How do I deal with pressure to get likes? ๐ฌ What does it mean to be โseenโ online? ๐ฌ Who am I on the internet, and who do I want to be?
We believe young people donโt just need protection โ they need preparation. Letโs give them the tools to make good choices in digital spaces.
