Chemigram workshop again!!!

Hi guys, I’m Max. I have been contributing to for a while, and now I’ll have a few interesting workshops.

My background is in electronic sound composition. I studied Sonology at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague where I created digital and acoustic minimal music and was trained in systematic thinking. My main artistic focus during my studies was using and emphasising systems – specific sets of rules or computer programs – in my compositions in order to highlight different ways of listening.

This exploration into systems has developed into a fascination with the transformation of objects and the inner workings of various complex procedures: sonic or visual, physical or digital. This continues to be a guiding principle in my art.

In terms of photography, I enjoy breaking things into an abstract level, using alternative materials. .van.der.wal

Chemigram is an experimental form of art where an image is made by painting with chemicals on light-sensitive paper.

The chemigram is made without a camera, yet it is created in full light instead of in the darkness of the darkroom. For this reason it is not "light that paints" but rather "chemistry that paints".

Chemigrams can be made solely with photo paper, developer, and fixer, but one can vary the method by using materials like honey, wax, or oil, etc.

Hi guys, I’m Nathan, a multidisciplinary artist from France, now based in Amsterdam. ⁠

Although the medium I use may vary from one project to another, analog photography often plays a central role in my work. In my art practice I explore the limits between worlds and words, dive through multiple existences toward the barriers of our perception. For me, the analog camera offers a technique that can physically extend our visual sense, but, at the same time, it also limits that by framing the complexity of the moment into an image defined by the photographer. The result is a unique mixture of the subjective and absolute reality around us. Another form of this imaginary world is the multiple identities we build as we decompose our memories into a constantly new persona at the present. I don’t consider it a lie or a falsehood, rather see it as only part of the whole.⁠ See some of my work in the next pictures.

At I am leading analog photography workshops of film development and enlargement. I’m happy to be part of this project, .darkroom for me is a place to explore new materials/concepts and gather or share ideas.

CYANOTYPE WORKSHOP⁠

During the workshop participants are going to learn about the history of Cyanotype. They will learn about the composition and exposure of the prints. They will have access to different kinds of papers to study, each of the papers giving a different result 🙂⁠
All participants will have one pre-prepared sheet of paper to make their first print. During the exposure, they will prepare their second sheet of paper and materials for the second print.⁠
During the 2h workshop participants can make as many prints as they desire!⁠
