Last Friday, Grade 12 students took part in a service collaboration with the Primary School. They taught lessons for students in Grades 1-5 and organised a range of fun activities, including a dance party, sports games, arts and crafts, charades and more.

It was a great way for students across divisions to spend a Friday afternoon together, connect and learn from each other. We hope to continue cross-divisional initiatives like this throughout the school year to strengthen our student community and enhance the student experience.

Our Grade Level Days last week were a great way for Secondary students to kick off the school year.

From rain-soaked hikes to theme park visits, students in Grades 6-10 had plenty of opportunities to step away from their usual timetables and get to know each other.

These days are designed to help students get to know their peers and build community within each grade level, making connections that will carry into the year ahead. Particularly for students who are new to ISA, these days help form relationships that enhance their experience at school.

Students are also encouraged to challenge themselves by trying new things and stepping outside their comfort zones, making these experiences memorable.

During their recent visit to Amsterdam’s STRAAT Museum, Grade 12 students explored the cultural significance of street art and the artistic movements that have shaped it.

They discovered how street art is uniquely connected to cultural contexts, how street artists interrogate and subvert the distinction between high and low art, and how artistic movements travel around the world.

They also had the opportunity to create their own street art, engaging with an artistic tradition that has a unique place in Amsterdam’s cultural history.

Our youngest learners are beginning to find their feet in their new school environment.

In these first weeks, they’ve been making friends, enjoying new activities and exploring the world around them with curiosity.

As their teacher Elisa puts it: “The first weeks of school are all about nurturing existing relationships and building new ones. Sometimes, all it takes is a couple of leaves blown in by the wind for the magic to happen.”

Small moments of discovery and shared play are helping our Nursery students to feel at home and make connections.

With the support of their teachers, counsellors, families and the ISA community, the Class of 2026 has made thoughtful and confident decisions about their next steps, whether that's pursuing a college degree, taking a gap year, or exploring other opportunities.

Building on their outstanding IB results, our graduates have received offers from top universities and institutions around the world. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved and look forward to following their journeys as members of our ISA Alumni community.

Starting at a new school is an exciting time, but it can also feel a little daunting. That's where our Student Ambassadors come in!

At ISA, new students are welcomed by trained student volunteers who help make those first days in a new environment feel a little easier. Our Ambassadors are chosen for their kindness, integrity, responsibility, and provide a friendly face and sense of support as new students are finding their feet.

More than just helping with the transition, they play an important role in creating a positive and welcoming culture that makes ISA feel like a community from day one.

Ten years after graduation, the Class of 2016 returned to ISA this summer for their 10-year Alumni Reunion! 🎓🌍

It was wonderful to see former classmates reconnect with old friends and teachers, share updates on where life has taken them and remember some of their favourite ISA experiences. Some of our global graduates have stayed in Amsterdam, while others have moved to cities and countries around the world.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the reunion such a memorable afternoon. It was lovely to welcome you back to the Pink Castle!

Last week, we were delighted to welcome 128 new students and their families to our New Student & Family Orientation events!

With dedicated sessions for both Primary and Secondary School, our Counsellors and student ambassadors were there to greet families, answer questions, and help everyone feel at home from day one. It was a wonderful way to start the new school year and introduce our newest community members to life at ISA.

Even more students have joined us since then, so if you spot a new face on campus, be sure to say hello and help us give them a warm ISA welcome 🌍✨

There’s nothing quite like seeing our campus come alive again. The hallways are once again filled with familiar faces and the excitement of a new school year.

From reconnecting with old friends to welcoming new ones, we’re looking forward to another year of shared experiences.
