I'm so proud of these girls!! Friday we've performed Libertango by Piazzolla in an arrangement for panflute quintet. It's such an abstract piece, which makes practicing on your own extremely difficult, but it sounds amazing when put together. Playing it live though, is something else 🤗 Girls: i feel priviledged to be your teacher🤗 Proud teacher speaking!

As part of my studies (RMA musicology), I am doing an internship at the Meertens Instituut. The past few months I have learned a lot about Dutch folk tales and I have transcribed numerous stories. One of the parts of the internship is writing an article about folk tales. I have just received the exciting news that my article has been published (link in bio). Even though it can only be read by my Dutch-speaking friends, I would still like to share it with you.

A quick summary for anyone who can't read it:
The article is about the representation of women, especially witches, in Dutch folk tales (sagas) and focuses on the stories that were presented between 1967 and 1981 in the radio programme 'Vonken onder de as' ['Sparks under the ashes']. It explores the witchification of prominent women today and its connection to the representation of women in folktales.

Yesterday this interview (link in bio) by Claudia had been broadcasted at Radio Romania. It was such a joy talking to her about my passion for Romanian folk music and Romanian culture in general. This is part of every aspect in my life. It is my preferred musical style to perform and the one I've got to specialize in. I love wearing my Romanian folklore costumes spring my performances. We've got our home away from home in the most beautiful village in Bucovina: Com. Bălăceana, jud. Suceava, and the past few years I've dedicated my Musicological research to Romanian music. Although I have gotten to know this music for over 26 years, it still keeps to amaze me in every way.
Thank you Claudia, for letting me share all of these facets of my life!

So good to be home at this special time 🤗 The fall is my favourite season, and I can't wait to start fruit picking tomorrow🍎🍇 These fruit trees are extra special though. They are over 100 years old and bear old races of unmanipulated fruits. The apples and grapes are very small but this is fruit as it should be🤗

So many memories... This is my grandparents' piano. Or should I say, was. After they passed away, it has been in my studio. I still remember my grandmother playing on it and my grandfather on violin. As soon as I could play, we've made music together. Just like my aunts and uncles I've learned to play piano on it. It helped me in creating arrangements for ensembles. My vocals teacher has accompanied me on it. But sadly it should be revised and, because of many reasons, it had to go... For three years I've been trying to give it to anyone who wanted it, but there was no one interested. So... Now it's gone and this piano will be replaced by a desk. A desk for my academic work. I saved the keys though, as a keepsake, materialized memories. Materialized memories that I will share with anyone who understands that they are invaluable.

Rehearsing with these girls is the best thing ever!!! We're getting ready for our Christmas concert. The first one will be at december 15, Trinitatiskapel, Dordrecht. Will we see you there?

Na twee jaar niets kan het eindelijk weer doorgaan! De Balkan dag Muziekacademie Den Haag 🤗 Er zullen workshops Klezmer, Roemeens, Bulgaars en Grieks worden gegeven. Je kan je opgeven voor twee verschillende of voor twee dezelfde workshops. Bij de laatste optie zal je alle twee de rondes andere muziek te spelen krijgen 🤗 Hopelijk tot 21 nei 2022!
