After six months of building, making sharp choices and preparing for growth, everything comes together on one stage. Meet a group of ambitious entrepreneurs ready to take their next step towards new markets, partnerships and growth.

For everyone looking for new products, strong founders, relevant market movements or opportunities within the food sector: mark 8 October in your calendar.

Gisteren vierden we de opening van onze nieuwe plek in het hart van Almere, samen met Almere City Marketing en .

Na een enthousiast welkom door directeuren Filip Otten (Food Pioneers) en Nik Smit (Almere City Marketing) verrichtte wethouder Maaike Veeningen de officiële opening door het laatste LEGO-steentje toe te voegen aan de grote maquette van Almere.

Met onze terugkeer naar het centrum kiezen we bewust voor meer verbinding met de stad. Dichter bij studenten, ondernemers en inwoners. Want de voedseltransitie gebeurt niet alleen in onderzoek en beleid, maar juist aan de keukentafel, in de supermarkt, op school en in restaurants.

Op de Food Pioneers Experience (vide) ontstonden mooie gesprekken, nieuwe ontmoetingen en veel nieuwsgierigheid naar wat hier straks samenkomt: onderwijs, innovatie, training en inspirerende bijeenkomsten.

Dank aan iedereen die erbij was en aan onze partners voor de heerlijke lokale hapjes en drankjes. We kijken ernaar uit om vanuit deze plek samen verder te bouwen aan het Bord van Morgen.

This was the start of the Food Pioneers Program 2026. During two energetic program days, the new cohort of entrepreneurs took their first steps towards the pitch event.

Day 1 was all about connection and collaboration: getting to know each other, stepping into the spotlight, giving feedback on each other’s pitches and exploring personal strengths and pitfalls.

Day 2 shifted the focus to the startups themselves. Together with experts Tim de Kraker from Gritd, and Leon Buter and Rob Dal from program partner , the participants worked on their growth stage, bottlenecks, product-market fit and the choices needed to move forward.

Step by step, the group is working towards the pitch event on 8 October 2026, where the participants will present their companies to a jury, investors and a room full of food professionals. That’s where they get the chance to receive growth capital of at least €50,000.

We zijn verhuisd!

Vanaf nu is Food Pioneers gevestigd op een nieuwe plek: Schutterstraat 17, midden in het centrum van Almere.

Voor ons betekent dit ook een terugkeer naar een vertrouwde omgeving. Nog voordat we in het Natural Pavilion trokken, zat Food Pioneers - toen nog bekend als Flevo Campus - al in het centrum van Almere. Nu keren we terug naar een levendige plek midden in de stad. Een omgeving met horeca, ondernemers en bewoners, waar we nog meer ruimte willen maken voor ontmoeting, samenwerking en nieuwe ideeën.

We blijven verder bereikbaar via dezelfde kanalen als altijd. Benieuwd naar ons nieuwe pand en wat we voor jou kunnen betekenen?

Meet the participants of the Food Pioneers Program 2026.

Last week, we kicked off the program with an inspiring first day at Energy Up in Zeewolde. We welcomed a strong group of ambitious food entrepreneurs, each with their own ideas, products and plans for growth.

Different categories, different business models, different routes to market, but one shared mindset: they are ready to accelerate their growth.

Over the coming months, they will work towards the pitch event, where they will present their businesses to a jury of experts and a relevant audience, with the chance to secure part of the €240,000 in growth capital.

Deze week is onze bijdrage aan Future of Agri & Food verschenen, als bijlage bij . In deze publicatie delen we onze visie op waarom de voedseltransitie vraagt om praktijkgerichte samenwerking, en hoe wij daaraan bijdragen door ondernemers, onderwijs, onderzoek en praktijk met elkaar te verbinden.

Met steeds meer monden om te voeden en steeds minder geschikte landbouwgrond groeit de behoefte aan nieuwe vormen van voedselproductie. In Almere krijgt dat onderzoek nu vorm: sinds vorige week drijven de eerste plantjes op het Weerwater in het Living Lab binnen het project Floating Deltas.

Er wordt onderzocht hoe haalbaar teelt op water is, wat dit betekent voor de voedingswaarde van gewassen en hoe consumenten op deze vorm van voedselproductie reageren.

Food Pioneers is partner in dit consortium. Eerder ondersteunden we via een kennisvoucher al de ontwikkeling van een eerste prototype van het drijvende voedseleiland, toen nog onder de naam Floating Future. De komende periode staat in het teken van testen en evalueren. Zo wordt gekeken hoe de gewassen zich ontwikkelen en hoe hun voedingswaarde zich verhoudt tot die van regulier geteelde groenten.

Het consortium is nog op zoek naar een partij die de eerste oogst wil overnemen zodra deze gereed is. Ken jij iemand, een organisatie of initiatief, die mogelijk geïnteresseerd is? Neem contact met ons op!
