V r back! After a long hiatus, courtesy pandemic😞

On occasion of Dussehra, we had a special storytelling session on famous epic - Ramayana. It was a 2 day workshop covering 10 episodes over 4 hours. We received overwhelming response from kids of age group 4 - 10 years. 13 enthusiast kids joined us over the weekend.

It was quite a surprise for us to observe that even kids of this gen are extremely interested in listening to an Epic! Throughout d long narration, kids were glued to d story & participated in discussions. Both the days, stories were followed by crafts (Rama on day 1 & Ravana on day 2) and kids had great fun. We received positive feedback from parents of participanting kids.

With d success of this workshop, we are happy that our experiment on such long storytelling also work among kids! We are looking forward to exploring similar modules in future!!!

Last weekend, on occasion of Diwali, v had gud time wit kids - Narrating stories & listening to their versions 🙂

We discussed 3 stories related to Diwali.
1. Story of a Prince (son of King Hima) n how his wife saved him from yama (who came in d form of snake) using gold n lamps. Reason why we buy gold during Diwali.
2. Story of Naragasura n how he was killed by sathyabama (tricked by Krishna); celebrating d death of d demon is d reason why we burst cracker.
3. Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after 14 yrs, people celebrated with row of lights (Deepa:light, wali:row) and bursting crackers.
Craft: To reinforce d stories, we did a rocket using tissue roll n colour papers.

Can’t wait for the next one. Thinking of sessions for Christmas or maybe Thanksgiving. Let’s see. . .

With Holi festival around d corner, we discussed 2 stories related to d festival today. . .
Story 1. Holika (sister of demon Hiranyakashappu) had a boon that fire wil not hurt her. She tricks n takes Prahalad (son of Hiranyakashappu) into fire; resulting in getting burnt to ashes, however Prahlad escapes wit d blessings of lord Vishnu. To celebrate this victory of good over evil, we celebrate Holi by lighting bonfire .
Story 2. Story of Krishna being teased by Radha for being dark. Krishna complains to his mom, (Yashodha); she playfully told him that he could color Radha’s face with whatever color he liked. Krishna throws colors on Radha’s face and they end up playing with colors.

Holi also marks the end of winter and beginning of spring season. Craft: “bouquet of colours” using their palm as outline.
