Paris is a city with different buildings from different periods in her history 🥐🇫🇷. The city can be divided into four architectural periods: Roman, Medieval, Renaissance and Classical. This makes that 80% of the buildings are built before 1945. Roofs are not isolated or ventilated en normally made of zinc or slate. Besides the buildings there are the streets which are made of asphalt and concrete. This combined creates the heat island effect ☀️🏝. To reduce the temperature, Paris is greening the city. They added 4.7 hectares of green roofs and there are more than 450 parks and gardens 🍃🌳. Besides this there are more than 200.000 trees spread all over the country. The city of London is busy building a Green infrastructure 🎡🇬🇧. There are even plans to make more than half of the city green by 2050. The get a step closer to this goal, the major of London made the city in July 2019 the first National Park City. This way, the ‘green belt’ of the cities stays protected and there will be more quality green on the long term. To make the hottest times of the day livable for inhabitants 😎, the local government of Phoenix created the ‘Heat Relief Network’. This network provides free water and indoor locations to cool off and is formed with the intensions of providing resources to the most vulnerable people 🥤🏨.
